Hi friends,

Today, I got my I-765 and I-131 approval notice. But when I bring it out from the mail box, I found out both of them already been opened! I have no idea who did this. I check the envelopes, I-765 has 2 pages NOA in it and I-131 has 1 page NOA in it.

Here come the questions :

1. Is there any other document come with I-765 or I-131 NOA in the same envelope? Does I-765 NOA come with Social Security Card in the same envelope?

2. NOA has sensitive information like A-number and my full name on it,  should I call USCIS to notify them the envelope has been open by somebody else?

Thanks!

Sorry you found your envelope open. You don't get the social security card in the same envelope. Not that I'm aware of. Any SSC that you requested should come mailed to you directly from the SSA office. That is how I received them.

If what you received was just the notice of action letter, then you should be expecting the EAD and AP in the mail in a few weeks. I would be calling the USCIS to tell them what happened.

If you live in a building and you suspect there is a nosy neighbor, then maybe you should see if there is a way that you pick up the mail (the ead and ap) at your postal office instead of being delivered to you.

NOA is just a receipt notice and you shouldn’t worry too much about it. How open was it? Those are simple envelopes and they can be opened by maneuvering if it hasn’t been properly sealed. You can file a complaint with usps but honestly it won’t go anywhere cause it’s usps. They suck. I honestly think you’ve got nothing to worry about. It’s just a receipt.

Thank you Sunnyland,

Pick up the card by ourself is a great idea! I'll try to call USCIS :)

Hi TNJ17,

It has been opened in the same way (see as below)

I just worry if A-number is a sensitive information or not?

If you feel better informing uscis then do it. The A# is an alien registration number and yes, is sensitive information and you don't want that to be flying around. It will stay with you until you become citizen. As per the pick up you should check with usps for that option.
