Simple question.  Does CFO keeps the documents that the fiance brings?  Or do they make copies and return originals?  Just wondering if they are going to keep her original birth certificate (we had issues getting it).

Bring copies with you to the seminar, they will look at the original and keep the copies (they will not make copies)

We would have done that but PSA had 2 certificates for her with different birth dates.  For some reason they cannot produce the one we need (the one that matches her passport and all her identification used her whole life).  The overhauled their system a few years ago and I think they destroyed the birth certificate that was filed first (the one we need of which we have only 1 original).

The way I see it is that you have to diligently work with PSA to correct this error. Safe guard the copy you have be sure to make more copies so at least you have something to show when asked for. There is going to be numerus times after you arrive in the states for the use of your BC. Get it done while you can still stand in front of a PSA agent to get this done. It will be a lot harder to accomplish any thing frm the US.

I can see this becoming an issue, as the BC she has is not the BC of record at PSA ... if during the interview the CO asked for a new BC from PSA ... the fan would need to be cleaned.  ;)

So yes,  I very much agree that now is the time to get the BC issue corrected,  while like you said - they can stand in front of the PSA agent or local registry.

And this also brings the AKA issue into play with the NBI.

Very tangled web for sure.

So her one original, certified birth certificate won't be good enough at the interview?  It is from the PSA.

We are going to clear up the issue but that can be done while she is here.

This is a DEPENDS issue.     Depends if the embassy is totally fine with it, or if they ask for a new copy ...        Embassy does check things, just running a "what if" ...   Plan for the best, prepare for the worst

For sure you will have to complete CFO before the interview with your current BC situation.

Hopefully you can go to the local registry later to do a "name correction" of the current official BC.

Maayong Buntag from Cebu)  Roxan completed her CFO successfully yesterday here. I went with her for moral support))) They did not keep copies of any of her documents--originals or copies.

Not a newbie but lost my old info years ago) I have been through this process before --all the way through naturalization-- This site has always been a great help to me.

Now that is interesting.  Manila is big on having copies of documents... but then they are also known for "playing more games"

As an update, CFO never even looked at her birth certificate.  Only looked at her passport.

Embassy interview was today.  I attended and she passed.

Excellent news on the interview.   Congrats!!

CFO is very unpredictable, the young, timid & shy tend to get the most "attention" .     Most others breeze through.

A little confused on something.  for K1 visa fiancees attending the seminar at Clark.  Do they need to bring a 2x2 photo for the certificate?  The CFO site doesn't list it as a requirement to bring and I have seen conflicting responses here on the site (from years ago).  What's the latest?  What god is the certificate anyway? All she needs is the sticker on her visa.  She goes to the seminar next week.

We had to upload a 2x2 photo with the electronic application.
