Dear VisaJourney friends,

My fiance and I applied for a K-1 visa back in June. We are awaiting our NOA2, but we have a problem...

I am living with my parents in Amsterdam, but they are selling their house soon. They also have a house in Germany and I am planning on living there until I can be reunited with my fiance in the US. Like I said, we have already applied and in the application I used my parents Amsterdam address and we said the Amsterdam consulate is 'my' consulate.

Does anyone know:

1) Can/should I change my address?

2) Will it give me problems/delays if I move to a different country

3) Will the visa then be transferred to the consulate in Germany?

If moving to a different country will cause enormous trouble, I will have to try to find a place here. Then the question about an address change still remains of course. The potential buyers of my parents house in Amsterdam don't mind receiving and passing my mail along, so that wouldn't be a problem. I am just worried they are going to deny me because I no longer live at the same place stated in my application.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Are you a Dutch citizen? If so, you may continue through the Amsterdam consulate. You will obviously need to travel to absterdam for your medical and interview but that’s the only “complication”. You could also travsfer to the Frankfurt consulate but that might involve more hassle than just leaving it as is and going to Amsterdam.

Not sure what the arrangements are in Amsterdam for returning the passports - whether they would courier it to Germany or only within the Netherlands or whether you could collect?

Another thing to remember is that if you move to Germany before the interview you will also need a German police certificate.

Thank you for your super fast reply!

Yes, I am a Dutch and German citizen. I could have it sent to my family or friends in Amsterdam, then I would have to travel here again but that's all worth it to me :-)

My other question would be... What address do I put on my DS-160? Do I put the same address as on my application (even though I dont live there anymore), but with a different mailing address (either within the Netherlands or my parents address in Germany).

Thanks agaiN!

Yes, but only if I have lived there for more then 6 months, right?

It's going to be cutting it very close, but I hope it can be done. It all depends on when we have to move out of our house here

When are you moving? If you are moving soon and only filed in June you will have been in Germany for more than six months by the time the interview comes.

Regarding the DS-160, use whichever address you are living at when the time comes to complete the form. Previous applicants in the same situation have been advised to call the NVC once the approved petition reaches them and advise of the address change then.

Hi

Everyone have there own openion.so i suggest if your parents house buyers are ok with receiving mail or any mails from consulate then you shouldnt take risk to change add and country on your application that would be more hassel and delays as well.only one thing you have to sacrifice which is obtain everything in amsterdam and dont change your id's now untill your process is done like Medical,Pcc and remenber when you will file DS160 then fill everthing like you live in Amsterdam same address.Anyways Amsterdam is a beautiful place.
