Seeking preparation for NOA 2?

Hello, we've submitted the I-129 form a few weeks ago and got the NOA 1 and I'm waiting for the mail piece.

 

I'm interested to know what are the other - NOA 2 - things that I should be able to prepare?

I appreciate any feedback. While I do understand most cases are different, I just hope things go smoothly without having to wait until the last min to rush it all.

1.A copy of the entire I-129f package (that you made when you sent the petition in) and a copy of information that you sent back due to an RFE (if you received one). Your fiance should review this information in advance of the interview (the embassy will have copies of this as well).

2.Send copies of the documentary proof that you submitted with the I-129F for your fiance to have on hand for their interview at the embassy. Your fiance should review this information in advance of the interview (the embassy will have copies of this as well).

3.Send an original letter affirming your desire to marry your fiance and your continued support of the K-1 Visa. Sign and date the form. This will be similar to the letter you provided with the I-129F, but dated much closer to the interview (it will have most likely been several months since you submitted your I-129F).

4.I-134 Affidavit of Support form. Ensure it is signed, with all required supporting evidence. Begin collecting the required information ahead of time, as it can often take several weeks to collect it all.

5.You will need several items (for the above form). Gather duplicate evidence of income and resources as appropriate: 

(A) Statement from an officer of the bank/financial institution with your deposits, identifying the following: 1. date account opened; 2. total amount deposited for the past year; 3. present balance 
(B) Statement(s) from your employer on business stationary showing: 1. Date and nature of employment; 2. salary paid; 3. whether position is temporary or permanent (also include copies of your last two pay stubs and your previous W-2 for the associated employer if available) 
(C) If Self Employed: 1. Copy of last income tax return filed (or IRS transcripts); or 2. report of commercial rating concern 
(D) List containing serial numbers and denominations of bonds and name of record owner(s). 

Begin collecting these ASAP after your NOA2 arrives. See this FAQ for more tips and useful information on the Affidavit of Support Form. 

6.A copy of the NOA2 that you received in the mail. (backup information; the embassy will have copies of this as well)

7.Proof of your ongoing relationship. This needs to be taken to the interview! Include photos, travel documents, emails, online chat logs (pick several over the prior few months), etc.. from between the time you filed and present (NOA1 until date-now).

Examples: Copies of land line and cell phone bills, appropriate emails and letters you have sent including the stamps on envelopes (to document the date they were sent), and other written documentary proof. Provide a reasonable amount; two to four of each type. Pick a range of dates up to and including the present. You can also include a copy of engagement ring receipt (this is something that is a big optional - do not worry if you do not have a ring yet!)

Are you the petitioner? If so, where will the beneficiary have their interview? Different consulates require different things.

I see this is a copy and paste... I'm rather asking for other people about what had they done for NOA 2 and so I can see what I can set up ahead of time.

I'm the petitioner. The interview is several more months away as far I'm aware, or does the interview come before NOA2? It's in Uruguay where the interview is at anyway.

It does apply, although the specific requirements depends on the embassy/consulate where the beneficiary will interview. It's impossible to give any specific advise without knowing that since requirements and processes vary heavily.

Right. I was thinking if I had prepared the affidavit of support and all the other stuff, it'll speed up the process for NOA 2 just a bit or something?

you the petitioner don't need to do anything further except for the affidavit. you get your approval notice (noa2) before the interview. however you may need to get tax returns to prep for your fiances interview as I don't know how long that takes, or which consulate the interview will be at so may not be required.

it takes as long as it takes unfortunately. if you are approved you will get an NOA2. this is not guaranteed

Nope. You sit back and wait for NOA2. You can start gathering the documents noted above as sometimes it takes time to get everything necessary, but besides that there's nothing to do but wait.

The I-134 is only presented at the interview (after NOA2 and NVC processing) anyway.

-Would I also have to remake a new letter for the Intent to Marry? I had been confused on this one.

 

-Would I also still need to translate the receipt to English when I have not submitted them?

yes

 

and what receipt? for most consulates, everything (most notably original documents such as birt/marriage/divorce/certificates) must be accompanied by an english translation.

The NVC websites says:

 

• Translations of any document not written in either English or the official language of the country in which the interview will take place.  Translations must be certified by a competent translator.

So anything in Spanish should not need to be translated.

Got it. I'll send in receipts to get it translated. They were restaurant receipt, hotel room receipt, etc.

 

Another question!

While I do think I could support my fiance for affidavit of support, I was planning to add another sponsor that could help me.
The sponsor is a relative I live with and he is retired.
I'm not sure how does this info suppose to be applied to the I-134 form.
I do think I put myself down first and include all of my bank statement, etc.
Do I also add my supporter's bank statement and other sources of income?

A co sponsor is only needed if the primary applicant isn't sufficient to satisfy the public charge concern.

Each sponsor completes an I-134 and provides supporting documents of their income and/or assets be claimed on it (i.e. pay stubs, employment letter, etc.).

I understand what you say, but I don't think my income is sufficient enough nor above the federal poverty level.

 

The question is how do I put down someone else that is helping me out financially? Do I get their bank statement? The person I am referring to is retired.
