Oh, I will try to schedule my interview tomorrow and see what dates are still available. I am not quite sure about the menstrual cycle thing but i would suggest that she calls the medical office and to ask them directly and that way she will know for sure!

Yeah, she actually showed me something in writing about it 🤷‍♂️  Sounds stupid but I’ve heard crazier things before lol

Oh, I forgot to mention this: Our letter from NVC lists "FNU" (first name unknown) in front of my fiancee's name.  "FNU (her first name) DO (her dad's name)".  She has a Tamil name which means "her name, daughter of her dad's name".  In the NOA1 and NOA2, they wrote it as "(her first name) D O (her dad's name)".  It's written D/O on her passport.  Seems like NVC has gotten this wrong... any problems here?

June 2016: We started writing to each other

June-July 2017: Met in person in the US for our first anniversary

December 2017 - January 2018: Met again in the US and got engaged

01/09/2018: I-129F sent to the USCIS Dallas Lockbox via FedEx

01/16/2018: Received NOA1 (NOA1 notice date: 01/11/2018)

June-July 2018: Met in person in Singapore and Australia for our second anniversary

08/03/2018: Notice date on our NOA2 (updated in USCIS's new website on August 6)

08/15/2018: Our case reached NVC

08/22/2018: Received NVC case number

09/04/2018: Our package left NVC (arrived 9/11, and she sent packet 3 that day)

09/20/2018: Received packet 4; scheduled interview

10/30/2018: Interview - told that we're approved!  Now waiting to receive the visa...
11/27/2018: Port of Entry at BWI

12/1/2018: Our wedding!

12/8/2018: Filed AoS on the way to our honeymoon (12/8-15/2018)
6/~7/2019: EAD and AP approved
09/25/2019: AOS interview in Orlando -- approval and green card!

Next step, June 2019: Filing I-751

Note: My wife is a Singaporean.  She moved to Australia before we met and got permanent residency there.

Hey Microcebus...we are  on the  same boat !😉  Ours  was sent too  on  04  Sept ., hoping to  receive  embassy letter by  next  week. .

I  dont  have answer  to  your  question  here.  But  maybe  you  can  enquire  with  NVC and  request them  to correct  your  fiance name  in the letter,

I  also  have  minor  prob  with  my  moms name  being  misspelled  on  my birth  certificate ..correct  spelling  is DENIA  but  typed as DINIA. ..   idk if  there will be  the repercussion when  interview time  comes.   For  now, i have the  photocopy  of  my moms birth  cert, passport and marriage contract  bearing  her  correct name .

Any  advise  is  highly appreciated  ... Mr Greenbaum  ...help ?

Don’t take my word for it, my fiancée checked , so maybe there are a couple for the beginning still.  But guess what, the others from Brazil are telling her she can’t be on her menstrual cycle at the same time as the medical.  I found this hard to believe but she said it’s true.  So she said she has to plan the appointments around that time of month.  Has something to do with the urine test

Hey, they say on here that you can still have the medical even if you're menstruating:

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/interview/interview-prepare/medical-examination-faqs.html

She can definitely call to confirm but I don't see how they can turn you away for that, that's not very nice 😛

I got that too. I don't think that's true for K1 visas though. I think we're supposed to arrange the interview ourselves.

The K-1 process is quite strange. For a time, it is both a non-immigrant and immigrant visa type. That is why the links (what you received in the email) will send you the process for immigrant which would be the I-864 and DS-260 even though it truly is a non-immigrant visa requiring I-134 and the DS-160. As you go through the stages, within the NVC system you look up your file under immigrant (CEAC.gov). It stays that way until after your interview and the approval and your visa is ready for issue. At that point, it changes over to non -immigrant. It truly is a non-immigrant visa with immigrant intent. Ignore the body of the email as it is not prevalent to the K-1 visa.

In the past women who were menstruating were asked to return after their cycle was complete. I have not come across whether that is still true or not. It's advisable to check with your medical examiner, especially if you are traveling far for the medical exam.

That shouldn't be a problem. It's one of those things that if you bring it up it can become a problem, if you leave it along till asked then you can have it repaired if asked by the CO. One rule that I advocate is to not volunteer information. If asked, then answer truthfully. If they miss it no harm done and besides that is such a small item that it will not get you a denial.

Someone else about a month or so ago had the same issue. Went to the interview and had no problems. Don't believe you are going to be the first one with this issue. Co's are wise to what the printer is capable in printing documents. I wouldn't worry about it.

It's not time to pull out the crying towel. You still have plenty of time. Not knowing your country it's hard for me to help you expediate your process with preparation.

Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline or your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine your Embassy. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Thanks

Ok thank you 🙂 Is there any telephone number here in the Philippines to contact them? Or only Petitioner can contact them?

I'm not sure if they have a number in the Philippines.

Stop wasting time calling. And NO there is not phone number from the Philippines. Use the following. When your case number is assigned you will get an email shortly. IT WORKS!

After getting notified and receiving your NOA2 send an email to NVC asking for them to email both you and your fiancé if any updates occur. In the past they have replied when your case was received from USCIS, another when your case number has been assigned and when your case is being sent out to your Embassy without you having to make any further queries by phone. Here is where you send this information to:

Email address: NVCINQUIRY@state.gov

Subject: Your receipt #

Body: Petitioner's Complete Name Birthday ; Beneficiary's Complete Name Birthday

Or use the online form
