The email is what's commonly referred to as packet 3.

Sure... but getting hooked on waiting on packets when they’re not really that anymore it’s counterproductive. Just trying to be direct on what to expect from this particular consulate

It's still a pig whether you put lipstick on it or not or it's like calling a tissue a Kleenex or a wipe it's still a tissue. So whether the "information" is a letter or email it's still referred to as a Packet or P3. "you say tomato, I say tomahto" same thing.

Hello everyone, slightly unrelated question:

I am still waiting for my NOA2 but I'm getting ahead and preparing all the documentation. For the affidavit of support we are going to have a joint sponsor (her mother), but she doesn't live in the same city where we're going to move. Is that a problem at all or is anywhere specified that the sponsor must reside in the same city as the petitioner?

Thanks in advance.

Sponsor could live on the moon and it has no influence. The best choice of co-sponsors is parents and then siblings. Keep in mind that the CS will need to submit the same financial documents that the petitioner must.

If you meet or exceed the poverty levels then there is no need for a CS. Good luck.

Could anyone shed a light on what's Rio's consulate schedule availability right now? I've read somewhere that the waitlist was somewhere in the 2 months time in order to schedule the interview after receiving the packet with the instructions.

I scheduled my interview exactly when my status changed to ‘Ready’ on CEAC, that was on Dec 28. I was able to schedule my interview on Feb 19, that was the first day available, so almost 2 months from there yep.

Oh no, this sounds no fun =/

One more question: I'm still confused about CEAC's role in the whole thing. When do I get an Immigrant Visa Case Number? Is this the NVC number?

Hi everyone! Just received our approval on January 16! Now we are putting everything together while we wait for the next steps with NVC, etc. I have a couple more questions to anyone who may be able to answer:

1) Do my fiance's vaccination records need to be translated to English?

2) My fiance's mother and grandmother need to apply for tourist visas to come to our wedding. I would like them to put me on their application to ensure approval (yes we have met many times). However, does this look bad to have a pending K1 and have more people from the same family requesting a tourist visa under my name?

Thank you! 😊

1) I don't think so. The doctor is brazilian.

2) Unfortunately there's nothing you can do to help them get a tourist visa. They are the ones that need to prove they have enough ties to Brazil and won't stay in the US, like a job or education. There's also no "sponsor" for tourist visas.

I understand that they need to prove their ties to Brazil. My concern is if it looks bad if my name is used as their US citizen contact on their tourist visa application while I currently have the K1 pending for their child/grandchild. Hope that makes sense!

It shouldn't be an issue.

Random question to anyone who may be able to answer:

My fiance has 2 original copies of his birth certificate which he has laminated to preserve them. Do you see this as a problem that although it is original, the actual paper cannot be touched? He believes it should be fine because it has been preserved for 29 years :P, but of course I'm worried!

Thank you!

I went through this with my fiancee.  They were fine with it at the consulate.  We never got questioned for either our K1 Visa interview or Report of a Birth Abroad.  Just make your copy for them.

No need to translate your fiance’s vac records. During the medical exam, your fiance will receive a (copy I think, still not sure if it’s a copy or the actual immunization record, I’ll confirm in a few days as I’ll have my medical on the 21st of this month, but this is what the medical instruction says, of their) vaccination documentation worksheet, which is what you’ll use for AOS later :), please someone correct me if I’m wrong.

Regarding your second question, I really don’t think that should be a problem for you, your fiance or their mother and grandmother ;)

Yes, your Immigrant Visa Case Number is your NVC number, it’ll start with RDJ and a sequence of 10 numbers. NVC will contact you with your case number or you can call them and ask if they’ve already received your approved case from USCIS and have a number. I’d also give them at least a month from the day of NOA2 before calling :)

I’ve received my case number exactly 1 month after NOA2, though my fiance had to call them and ask for it. A couple weeks later they shipped our petition to Brazil and emailed us a letter informing it was on it’s way to Rio de Janeiro’s embassy.

CEAC: https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx

This is the website you’ll use to check your case once you have your nvc number.

Hope it helps :)

They will receive a form DS-3025 (it could be in the sealed medical exam envelope) but that is what you will use for your AOS after marriage.
