Hi everyone,

My name is Nadia and my fiancé's name is Farouk (he is from Morocco). We applied for the K1 visa back in December 2017, received the visa petition approval on June 14th 2018, and received a case number and notice that the NVC sent the case to the Casablanca embassy on July 10th, 2018. My fiancé  sent the Casablanca embassy an email today, inquiring of the interview date. He received a generic email in response stating that the US Consulate General in Casablanca was receiving a high volume of messages at the time. But we noticed that the email said this concerning K1 visa's:

"Fiancé K-1 Visas
We are currently experiencing a high volume of fiancée petitions. We are scheduling interviews in the order in which the petitions were received at our office, and will send this interview notice to the applicant by email, along with further instructions. Any petitions that expire during this period will be extended as necessary to cover the additional time. At present, the interview backlog spans three to four months following the date which NVC forwards approved I-129F petitions to U.S. Consulate General Casablanca. In preparation for the interview, applicants are welcome to review our Fiancé Visa<http://morocco.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/fiance-visas.html> webpage."

Who has recently received an interview date in Casablanca and how long did it take from the day the NVC sent the case to the Consulate to the date you received the interview packet?

Thanks Guys

That's generic email that everyone gets from Casablanca. Don't worry, it shouldn't take 3-4 months for the interview to be scheduled. Give them about 1-3 weeks and they should respond back to you with the interview date. They usually schedule the interview about a month in advance.

I'm thinking if we are like everyone else he should get his interview packet sometime next week. I'll definitely update y'all on this.

He doesnt get an interview packet per se. It's just a couple pdfs.

You should email them once or twice a week, adding your case number and NOA2 expiration in the email. It took me 5 weeks to get an interview date through Casablanca but others got it quicker.

Its your NOA2 date. Priority date is usually referred to more where there are family categorie (F2A, F3 etc) If your case was approved June 4, your expiration of it should be October 4th.

Hi everyone!

Update: He received the interview appointment today. So it took 3 weeks from the time the NVC received it and sent it to Casablanca (July 10) to the time that Casablanca assigned the interview (July 31). His interview is scheduled to take place on Aug 23rd, 2018. I am confident he will pass but until then any tips for the interview are welcome : )

Thank you all for your advice

Congratulations on your interview, hope everything went as planned. We are at the same boat as you guys. We applied on 12/29/2017 and got our NOA2 on 7/17/18. As of 8/15/2018 the consulate has received our package and the NVC website says ready. Now we are waiting for their package and interview. We would love to ask you few questions about the interview and medical exam.

For medical exam, did they require the vaccination records? What do they do?

For the interview, did you have a choice to choose your language? Or you must do it in English? What kind of questions they asked? Did they give you a response (approved/wait...) right away or you have to wait for it?

Any other info you can share would be greatly appreciated.

Congrats and good luck

For the medical, my fiance had to bring in copies of vaccination records but since he didn't have all of those vaccines he was vaccinated. I will ask him about what else they do during the medical.

As for the interview, unfortunately the embassy was closed during his scheduled interview (they never called or emailed to reschedule him). We have sent emails requesting reschedule and are actually waiting for them to reschedule him. They are very behind as they will be to reschedule all of the interviews that were scheduled during EID aldha week and after. Supposedly they made this mistake because a third party does the scheduling and that person's contract with the embassy just ended before EID aldha. If I had to guess, you might be looking at having your interview scheduled for sometime in October. But just keep emailing the embassy to ask them to schedule you for the interview, they will eventually respond.

Thank you so much for your reply. Sorry to hear about that, that really sucks. Hopefully they will reschedule him soon. My fiancée just emailed them this morning, I’ll do the same on Thursday and again next week, Aiming for like 2 emails a week until they respond. Thank you so much for the info. Trying to at least guess a date so we can plan travels and honeymoon...

I have a question: while waiting for them to send you the email with the interview date, did you have to do anything? Any papers to prepare? Trying to get everything ready beforehand.

Thank you for the help
