Got married to a USC under B2

If he's about to deploy, it's a no-brainer. Go back home and CR1. He's being selfish asking you to walk out on your life on a moment's notice (if this was really unplanned) right when he's about to be walking out, albeit temporarily, himself. You'll be left behind in the US with very little support network. Just the meager resources on base and, maybe, other wives in his unit.

As per everyone else's advice, marry and then go back home, have him file the CR1 visa paperwork and wait it out. This way you can safely work in your home country without having to worry financially.

Best of luck to you!

the option is yours. you did not come here with the INTENT to get married, so yes, you are allowed to file directly for AOS.

there are pros and cons to both sides. Its up to the two of you (mainly you, really, in my opinion) to decide which way works best. If you stay and apply directly for AOS, if he is deployed soon, you will be ALONE here. Whereas you can file a CR1 and wait at 'home', until that process is done and he is back stateside for awhile, to give you more support in your new home. That way too, you can work and travel immediately.

in your case id probably personally do the CR1, but thats me.

If you value being the US now as opposed to year from now, then AOS. You will get the employment authorization and advance parole (permission to travel and re-enter) in 3-5 months on average.

If that does not sound appealing, then yes CR1.  Kiss your chances of entering the US in the meantime (about a year) goodbye. Some couples value being together, and I reject the idea that just because "many couples here are apart for a year" that means you have to be too.

Since he may be deployed they'll be apart anyway so she might as well go back home and be with her family. It will take a huge toll on her mentally to be here alone with no support system, no SSN, no Driver's License, no job. CR1 is best.

Yes I know. They know more information about length of deployment etc. I was presenting pros/cons and she can make her own determination. I don't presume to know her innermost thoughts about support system, length of deployment, ability to work etc. Like I said, with CR1 she won't be able to be in the US for a year. She knows better than us the affect of that on their lives.
