When I was a kid my parents bought me a set of books that went over everything and said if I had any questions fire away. When we had sex ed in 7th grade they gave us a pre-test, I got 100%. :)

I think that's what we'll do for our son. A lot easier and less awkward since you don't have to explain the whole thing.

Worked for me. One day I came home to find a giant book on my bed called something like "Girls Book" or "Girls' Bodies" or something or other. At first I was really embarrassed, but I did read the whole danged thing. No mention of it was ever made in my house. My parents are pretty open but apparently they couldn't muster the strength for sex ed. The book didn't cover STDs and pregnancy, but I got a lot of that at school, and I think my parents knew they had nothing to worry about in that department. But that was back in the day when schools actually taught things other than abstinence, so if you have kids today you probably need to educate them on that stuff at home. Le sigh...

He's probably working off of half-baked lockerrroom advice, too, probably some other idiot saying "she can't get pregnant if you have sex standing up or if she doesn't have breasts, cause how could she breast feed?"

No, no, no. If you do it in a hot tub you can't get pregnant. ;):P

That one's true though (if it's really hot.)

Actually... that's not entirely false. You see, wearing tight underwear or pants can press the testicles up against the body and increase their overall temperature. The testicles are very sensitive to temperature and if they become too warm, sperm count can temporarily decrease. It doesn't have to and it's by no means a method of birth control. After all, it only takes one sperm to fertilize an egg. ;)

Exactly. "Doing it" in the hot tub has the same effect.

Dang, what a silly question (not dumb, but silly/uninformed, at least)! Well, I've heard stories of 7 and 9 year olds getting pregnant. If you've had your first period, you can get pregnant if you have unprotected sex. I'd advocate abstinence and not to let foolhardy boys (notice I didn't say "men") talk girls into stuff like that before they are emotionally able to cope with the emotions and feelings associated with the action as well as the possibility of making a child as a result. When mine and Jacki's children get of an age where they have to deal with decisions like that, we're going to clamp down and tell them that they're grounded until they're 18, no dating, no boys over...hahahahahaha. Well, I hope we will be able to clamp down...still haven't had that conversation deeply with my baby...

Who says that your breasts are underdeveloped? Anyway, you can get pregnant. You can actually get pregnant before you have what "seems to be" a full menstrual cycle. Be careful.

DEAR ABBY: This may seem like a dumb question, but I really need to know the answer. Can you get pregnant when your breasts are still underdeveloped?

My boyfriend says you can't, but I need to know for sure. I'm afraid to keep birth control in my room because my little sister, who I have to share a room with, constantly snoops through my stuff when I'm not there. She would be sure to show it to our parents if she found it because she loves to get me in trouble, so I really need to know the answer to this. -- QUESTIONING IN OKLAHOMA

DEAR QUESTIONING: There is no such thing as a "dumb" question.

Your boyfriend is mistaken. Breast development has nothing to do with whether a girl can become pregnant. The onset of a young woman's menstrual cycle has everything to do with it. Under no circumstances should you have unprotected sex. Not only will it place you at risk for pregnancy, but also for sexually transmitted infections.

...Abby shoulda said, "Honey, your boyfriend will say anything to get you in bed."

I hope her boyfriend isn't some 30 year old sleeping with a girl underage!

Dear Abby,

If Gary Spivey is supposedly "psychic" Why would he wear those those freaky wigs? Wouldn't he know that wearing them scares people?

Yours Truly,

#######

 It IS bizarre to say the least. I can't figure the guy out - except that I think he's a shyster. The only thing I can think of regarding the bizarre wigs is that without it, he's just a regular fat guy trying to make money off of suckers.
