im worried about the drive home, i live 30 minutes north of work where my husband said the smoke is even worse. and ppl in gainesville cant even drive when its clear outside

Today was the first time I saw smoke outside from the fires. I went out in the afternoon, windows down in a non A/C car so I had the lovely smoke blowing in my face. It had gotten better by a couple hours ago. But Suj said he had ash on his car too.

I have smelled Forrest fires from far away, that can be pretty bad. I can't imagine how bad it is for you being so close.

Seriously, that's what I'm thinking...It must be pretty bad if everyone's eyes are watering IN the building. I'm sure they will let you all go home.

HAHAHA Go home to WHAT? Smoke that was just as bad? Pinellas is the only county that hadn't had a fire and the smoke smell was so bad in the building, but what was going home going to do? IF anything, the smoke would have been worse at home.

Good morning im still alive yaaaay!! the smoke got pretty bad lastnight, this morning my car was no longer red but just a big car shaped ashe in the driveway. its cleared up for the most part this morning, but the winds are supossed to cause it to get bad again later today.

Nothing bad really, chest pain, watery eyes, coughing, soar throat. My daughter has BAD allergies as it is, so i kept her pretty well ventalated in the house. The fires are still going from what i know.

CarolineM, i know about the road closures, we had 4 largely driven roads closed yesterday along the alachua/braford county line.

The worst part is everytime you go outside you can feel the ash on your skin and when you lick yuor lips you can taste it, its nastey. there was no sun when i left work, just a small red dot in the sky. it was spooky

I didn't see or smell any smoke here on the drive to work. Hopefully we'll get some rain in the area of the fires soon.
