To everyone here:

Is it possible that the green card gets issued before EAD/AP combo card? Is it unsual? The NBC (national benefits center) is not even a choice of service center in the drop-down menu in USCIS website for I-485.

I have been looking in VJ and couldn't find a answer to: How long does it take from being informed that they are going to schedule interview to the actual time it takes to get one.  Weeks? Months? Any ideas?

Thanks, for your comments

It is possible, but unusual. It is processed by your local office, so Montgomery I would assume.

I saw a few people who got their interview letters just a few weeks after that notice you got. And then the interview date might be a while after that, as it will be scheduled whenever your local office has their next opening. But generally getting that notice so early is a good sign you will also get your interview early, I would say.

Yes, we are still in shock from the weekend. I mean...who wouldn't be, right? The interview has to be in Montgomery and I hear they are pretty much up to speed in the processing of applications. The only reference I can follow is the Montgomery, AL FO thread here in VJ and most people there are doing N-400 to my understanding.

Gotcha. Well I wouldn't be surprised if you have your interview appointment letter in the mail in the next two weeks, and the interview in itself in the next two months or so. But I obviously don't have any real insight into any of this - will be interesting to follow your case :)

It is common that people get the GC before EAD. But to be honest, I read that some people got status changed to ready to be scheduled and they still waited for a long time. Only when the status changed into, we have scheduled your interview. It really means something. And then interview is coming soon.

Anyone still waiting on their NOA1 notification? We have been waiting since June 22 and I'm starting to get nervous!

Our AOS was received on June 27th and we are still waiting. Checks have not been cashed and we have not received anything electronically or in the mail.

As per VJ stats, the average EAD processing time was 115 days in the past year. Only about 9 out of 81 local offices had an average AOS processing time of less than 115 days in the same period. I would say getting GC first is definitely not unheard of, but it's maybe not common as the far majority will still see EAD first.

I am reading March, April, May filers too. But most of the case which get their interview within 3-4 months, they get GC before EAD

Well, if this is true then it's not reflected in the timelines. As per VJ timelines, 3 May filers out of the total ca 100 applicants have had their interviews scheduled. The figures for April is 5 out of ca 80, and for March 13 out of 120. That is 3%, 6%, and 11%, respectively. Those are relatively small numbers, even if you add slightly to the "interview scheduled"-figures to adjust for those who may have forgotten to update their timelines.

I realize it may seem like quick interviews happen to many people, probably because those people post more frequently about it, but looking at these figures I don't believe GC before EAD happens for most. VJ stats are of course not an exact representation of the entire pool of AOS applicants to begin with, and I recognize that, but I would say that individual statements by people in the monthly threads are even less so.

February is possibly more interesting to look at, since about 5 months has now passed. February has 18 scheduled or passed interviews, out of 115 applicants, a rate of ca 16%. The other people in the February forum have been and are still right now getting their EADs/APs. Even if @Alabamak1s wife's interview date is not set in another four months, his wife will still be in that ca 16% minority that even has an interview date at that time to begin with :)

I didn’t check those datas. But I am saying is people who get their interview within 3-4 months, they get their GC before EAD. I am not saying most cases are like that.

But it does happen that GC comes earlier than EAD . Can you give me a link about those dates or you just figure out yourself?

really cool!

Hey, I'm right there with you! We know from tracking number they received our AOS on June 27th at 10AM, but we have not had any NOA1, e-notifications or checks cashed!

Yes, it definitely does happen. There was actually one filer here in NYC who recently got her GC in the mail, after about four months, no interview or anything. Talk about smooth.

Sure, the data is available in the Processing Times tab. Just go to "Adjustment of Status Processing Times". It is not really the best tool though so I just manually counted all applicants in all months (I went by "Filed Date", but I know some people probably pick forum based on NOA1 date). When I counted the amount of people with interviews scheduled, I just filtered on "Interview" (Yes).
