Hello everyone.

What does NVC look for on the I-134 regarding assets? does it matter whether whole life insurance has cash surrender value or not? would they ask for that on the form? I am trying to find ways to supplement my income so I may not need a a co-sponsor, such as a second job, etc....please advise.

For K-1 visa, NVC doesn't look at any documentation other than the petition from USCIS and sending it on to the embassy.

The embassy will evaluate the I-134 form at the interview. As for supplementing things to make up for income, co-sponsor may just be the easiest solution.

With all due respect.  If your income is below the poverty line are you sure you really want to bring a fiance/spouse into the picture?  I mean really are you going to cash out your whole life insurance policy to provide for yourself and your intended?  They are really looking for liquid assets.  I don't think life insurance is considered liquid.

There is a section on the I-134 form asking for it, as well as stocks and bonds, but nothing specific, so I guess I will then go with a co-sponsor anyway. The life insurance is to protect my family. Last year I had an accident and my left leg broke, was homebound with our two children while my fiance was overseas, so he could have been here with us and yes, the children are our children....so for that and more valid reasons, life insurance is important, I just may or may not include it on the form....
Thanks.
