Hi,

I think that would be illegal, as it's a B1 only, after sales, meaning it has a very specific purpose & it's not the general B1/B2 which allows you to do both. You could obtain a B2 easier if you respected the terms of your B1 visa and never overstayed, so consider that option. :)

Good luck!

Goodmorning to all,

I have a US B1 VISA with "after sales" annotation. can i go for turism in US or only for business?

Thanks to all

Need more info

what is the validity of the visa?is it single entry or multiple entry? Did you apply to attend a specific event? Is it B1 only and not B1/B2? Do you want to do your tourism visit on a separate visit, or before or after the sales event annotated for on the same trip?

I asked for a b1/b2 visa to the ambassy but they gave me only b1 with the annotation. When i went to the ambassy i told to them i already booked a holiday in the us. the b1 is a multiple entry. The holiday is in a separate period.

I think you answered your own question.

B1 is for business, not for tourism. You should apply for a B2 visa otherwise your risk of being denied entry will be a lot higher than the usual.

Agree you need a B2.

Agree with the others, if you asked for B1/B2 and what you got was B1 with annotation, it’s usually a sign that you are expected to only use it for that. What is the expiry date on the B1?

(By the way the fact that you already booked a holiday is meaningless to the embassy - all official visa pages tell you not to book anything permanent/non-refundable until you get a visa. Works opposite way to schengen.)

it should be ok if you add a few days or week or whatever before or after your work thing to do some sightseeing on the same trip.

Visas are assigned for specific purposes.  Your visa is strictly for business only.  Tourism is not allowed.  If you attempt to enter the US for tourism using that visa, you will risk losing it as well as more severe consequences for misrepresentation.

I travel to different countries for work all the time. Usually contract work for 2-4 months at a crack. I've been thru many POE's and I usually have a letter from the company, or a copy of my contract to prove work intent. Most of the time no problems, but I have had customs call to verify I am coming to work. Now, do I do some sightseeing and touristy things while I'm in these countries, of course I do, and I have never had a issue, but if you came in on a work Visa, I think you have to be working most of the time. A few days tourism here and there is expected I would think. I have never come into the US on a work Visa, but I would venture to say it's the same thing. So, just to be safe I would get a B2 like others have recommended, or you may get that one CBP officer that loves to be nosey and risk your current B Visa.
