Hi all!  I petitioned for my K-1 visa in June of 2017, got the first RFE end of Feb 2018, sent my response (they were asking me to prove that we had met in person in the 2 years previously preceding the petition request), I since sent multiple inquiries.  Today, I received notice that they are sending me (via snail mail, cause we are stuck in the 1980s apparently) another RFE.  Has anyone had this happen to you? Is there any sort of timeline I can look to for them reviewing this? Is this bad news? Are there other options? (i.e. get married abroad then adjust status at the consulate?)

When you got the first RFE, what specific type of proof did they ask for you to send?

What specifically did you send in response?

It's not uncommon for a second RFE if the first one was responded to poorly.

It happens not common but it does. It can be asking for something totally unrelated to the first rfe.it does not mean it is being denied, it is still an rfe. They might have stopped as the first rfe was about important requirements and when you sent that and they reviewed they might have come across to another situation that needs additional evidence or correction.

other options would be withdraw petition (cause you cannot apply another without withdrawing) get married abroad and apply for a spousal visa (start with the petition again)

you cannot adjust status at a consulate. It will be another petition (I-130) for spouse first then go through the spousal visa (cr1) procedures.
