hi guys and thank you for your help in advance,

here is my question, my husband and I are planning to travel to Bali in the beginning of June.

I'm in the process of updating my French passport for adding my new Last name, but I'm not sure it will be done in time.

So my question is, is it important that the names match from the AD,EAD card combo and my  French passport ? or would it give me trouble for reentry ?

thank you so much for your help

It won't matter, it will help for sure but it's not necessary. When I traveled back in 2012 to my home country with my AP (under my married name) and my Argentine passport (under maiden name) I had not problem at my return. Not in my departure (Argentina) nor entering US with my Arg passport and AP. They have all the information in their system. I also brought with me a copy of my marriage certificate and my aos letter in case they needed.

PS: You are lucky that your country accept your new married name to be updated in your passport. In my country when I tried that they would not let me change it. I have to keep my maiden last name  in my passport since they won't recognize  any name change done in another country as I have been told at embassy and in my country civil registry.

The important piece is having the passport, AP, and any documents showing the legal name change between them (e.g. a marriage certificate).

As others have said, it hopefully shouldn't cause a problem. I travelled recently with my greencard in my married name and passport still in my maiden name - there were no problems. I had my marriage certificate on hand just in case. Just make sure that the name on your flight ticket matches the name in your passport, and you have your documents for reentry.
