That is really unfortunate. My original appointment was March 10th. Missed by one day. I really wished the incident happened later. Because now the situation in Seattle could potentially get worse, and the Seattle office could be closed again, for much longer.

Yes, frustrating. I hope the various field offices find ways to deal with this situation without having to close for periods of time. The citizenship process is already a never-ending saga for many of us...and now coronavirus on top of it all!

We are all in similar situations.

Please try to use the "free tools" that we all have:

1) Send USCIS Ombudsman a written complaint about your case. https://www.dhs.gov/topic/cis-ombudsman

2) Call Customer Service and ask to speak with Tier-2 officer (Tier-1 is an employee who works as a third party and does not have power of decision. Ask for a second tier)

3) Send letters to your:

a) US Congressman. It depends on the district that you live. Your local Washington State legislatures can be found by entering your address into the district finder tool: http://app.leg.wa.gov/districtfinder/

b) US Senator. It does not depend where you live. I wrote to Maria Cantwell and she replied very quickly.

4) Call Customer Service and ask them for an Infopass appointment,. They will call you in 72h after the phone call. I am not sure how are they going to proceed with Tukwila office being closed but give them a try.

I have traveled in and out of the country since January 2018 with an expired Green Card using the I-551 stamp and had not problems at all.

Bring extra documentation like a letter from your employer, bills, paperwork that you filed for naturalization, etc.

The I-551 is also a proof for work eligibility (for the I-9 federal form) so you can use it to as a proof of your permanent status in the HR department.

I hope this helps. If somebody in this forum knows about another alternative way to accelerate things, please let us all know.

I need an info pass appt too. Going to 2nd stamp. Can you let us know how they handle?

Good for you! For me, it sucks. I have to wait more than a month from my original appointment.

You have waited 17 months for an interview?! It's so unfair that people should have to wait so long. I don't understand why there hasn't been a greater system-wide/national effort to more effectively standardize the wait time from application to interview.

That kind of sucks. I waited 11 years for my employment based Greencard. Have been a tax payer for about 20 years and now again in this in infinite wait. Oh well, lets hope they figure it out. My relative applied in Sept and got their certificate in Jan in Boston.

That's exactly what I am referring to. It's mind boggling how unfair the process is in that regard. And there is zero political will to do anything about it. It's an "it is what it is" situation and we just have to deal with it unfortunately.

We actually still have several people on this thread that have been waiting for their N400 since April 2018. Unfortunately Seattle has a lot of applicants and USCIS upper management has failed to increase staff numbers to handle this. With the current administration's hiring freeze, the future applicants might have to wait even longer. When I applied in 2018, people from 2016 were just getting their N400s done (16-16.5months) and I though that was insane and that my own case would be faster. But it wasn't. Seattle office continued to receive more cases than they could process. So they ended up having to dump cases to nearby offices. But nearby offices only have so much room to absorb them. I'm afraid that if Seattle continues to have more cases in than out, new combo filers will end up waiting 20 months or more.

Since you are not a combo filer, your case probably will be done within a year.
