Ok, so regarding birth certificate. Is it the same as Certificate of Live Birth? The one my mom got at the PSA is the Certificate of Live Birth. My mom insist it’s the same thing.

Yes the birth certificate from PSA .. your mom is correct.

And now a year later PSA has fixed the online payment system.  ;)

Yeah the payment system has been fixed but the delivery system has not. If you still want to be assured delivery outside the Philippines and in a timely manner you will still need to use FedEx. I am still waiting for a PSA BC I paid for in August that supposedly got sent through Philpost/USPS to the USA. All the while I used FedEx in December and had one within a week.

I remember when you did that one.   PhilPost .. the black hole of postal delivery

Yeah I got a email from them back in October saying that "they could not deliver to my house due to some unforeseen reason and will retry it". I have since seen nothing at all.

Ah thank you! My husband and I did our ROM yesterday and what I have is a copy of a certified copy of the original.  I picked up just the photocopy on our way out.  The woman who processed our paperwork said it’s not the original, and in my head I’m thinking but you can’t have the original, only a certified copy of it. But all she kept saying is I need the original, that it’s not an original. She let us go thru the paperwork but made a note that when I come back to renew my passport that I need to bring the original.  The way the woman at the embassy kept saying original made me think it’s totally different from what I have.  So after I got my ROM, I talked to the guy who handed it to me and showed her what I have and to explain to me what an original one looks like and he said it’s exactly the same thing but it’s printed in a security paper that’s thicker and the back is not just plain white.

Yes, an "original" in most situations is simply the certified PSA copy of the birth certificate, and like noted - printed on special paper.   It can be confusing as it really isn't the original, its a certified copy.  ;)

Are they no longer sending them registered mail? I ordered a birth certificate from the e-Census website back in 2013 and they sent it registered mail so I had to sign for it. It got to my house in California in about 2 weeks.

They send it by mail using Philpost which then goes to the USPS when it gets to the USA. But they are notoriously slow at best. They (PSA) gave me some BS email saying that "We could not deliver your package at the address on the request" which is crazy because I live in a small subdivision in NC not some gated community or condo in a large city. I responded back saying to retry delivery please and they agreed to try it again. Since then I have yet to receive that package or received anything from the PSA about delivery.

You have the option to send it by FedEx if you have a FedEx account. Which it took me literally 20 minutes to create a account with everything like the billing information. Once you do that you can have them send it through FedEx and get it in about 4-5 days, and the cost was $60 to send it by FedEx.
