I'm an Italian citizen and my wife is an American citizen. I'm in the process of applying for the CR1 visa through the consulate in Naples, Italy. Our I-130 was approved earlier this month and now I'm in the process of filling out the DS-260 and obtaining the required documents. I have a question regarding the birth certificate requirements. On the "Instructions for Immigrant Visa Applicants" it says that I need to obtain the birth certificate of "each person named in the application." Does anyone happen to know if this includes the birth certificates of my parents (since I am asked to provide their information in the "family" section of the DS-260)? Thank you!
Hello, I am in the process of submitting my I-485 package with my US citizen spouse. I am currently on a STEM OPT Status (F1 Visa) and will be applying with I-130 and I-485 packet very soon. Pretty much all USCIS forms I've filled out ask for: 1) Date of Birth 2) City/Town Village of Birth 3) Country of Birth My whole life I've assumed the fact that I was born in Istanbul, Turkey and I got my OPT & STEM OPT I-765s through writing "Istanbul" in City of Birth box. Now, since I-485 is a bigger deal than I-765 for OPTs, I don't want to make any mistakes and risk an RFE. My passport, national ID card(kimlik) and birth certificate(vukuatli nufus kayit ornegi) say 'Bahcelievler' under place of birth. However Bahcelievler is a district of Istanbul and not a city on its own from my understanding. If I list Istanbul as city of birth for my application, would I risk getting an RFE? Please consider the fact that Bahcelievler is not a town/city/village as per Turkish standards. If there's any Turkish person who sees this post and dealt with USCIS can shed some light, I would be forever grateful. Thank you!!
Hello All, I am going through a very complicated situation. I am a US citizen by birth and living abroad most of my life due to my fathers work (he is also a US citizen). I got married to my wife and she holds a foreign passport. She is currently pregnant and we were planning for her to give birth in LA. A day before her Visa appointment, the embassy canceled all appointments due to Covid 19. So we are currently can’t fly to the US because she doesn’t have a valid Visa and will not be able to give birth in the US. I am just short of meeting the 5 years for the child to get the CRBA. My wife also can not pass her foreign nationality to the new born. So what it means, the child will be born without a nationality, which is inhuman and will destroy my child’s future. Anyone can help with this unfortunate situation? Covid 19 changed everything and a new born will pay the price for something we can’t control.
