Has anyone uploaded or sent form I-864 without the barcodes on the bottom of each page? When I print it to sign it & hand write some info in, the barcodes do not appear. Anyone send these forms without the barcodes & not have an issue with NVC??

I don't have a barcode on my I-864 page

If you download the form first (NOT fill it online and download) and then fill in, the barcode stays.

your i864 will still be processed without barcode but will take more processing time. With barcode, in one click, everything shows up on their computer while it takes more manual intervention n confirmation process without barcodes.

Yes I see it then...can I sign it electronically...and have my parents sign their forms electronically? I'll have to look at it again...but I  remember having trouble with certain cells not allowing me to enter info into it. That's why half is typed and half is written. Is there a certain program to open it with where it won't give me a problem typing in all cells?

The barcode only shows up if you use a supported reader...most don't support the barcode (or don't do so properly). Adobe Acrobat DC works for me.

Using the form without the barcode is perfectly fine...it just means somebody has to either type the info in (or use traditional OCR capture techniques...idk what they do now exactly). If there is a barcode, they just scan that and the data goes right into the computer instead.

Electronic signatures are not permitted (at least last time I checked). A photocopy of an original ("wet signature") document should still be allowed given the guidance last year, although I'm not certain if all COs follow that.

If you are writing in any information by hand, then do NOT use the barcode. That information is likely to dropped as they may just scan the barcodes and not notice the hand-written text.

Ok thank you, this makes sense...I was wondering how people are uploading these docs with the barcode and signing them. Doesn't everyone need to print and scan, in order to put the signature? This is so confusing!
