@mdox congratulations on completing the journey! Could you share your Oath experience? I have the following questions

 

- Did you apply for a passport at the ceremony? Looks like they need a copy of the naturalization cert for the application. How did you get that if you applied at the location? Doing this is tempting since this costs $35 per person less than filing at USPS does. 

 - Did you get to update your information with the social security admin at the oath ceremony? The letter states we would be able to do that.

I needed to get back to office after oath soon and did not want to wait in the line, got an USPS passport appointment for later that day, paid the $35.
SSN info was recommended to update about 2 weeks after Oath Ceremony.

So the day came and went and I am now a US Citizen!  Almost had separation anxiety giving away the Green card 😀
 
The ceremony started sharp at 9:15 am and ended at 11:20 am. Amazing event!! They really make you feel welcome and special as new citizens.
 
I opted to not apply for the passport at the venue because I had to get back to work and waiting in line could easily take another 45 minutes.
 
Also, the original naturalization certificate has to be submitted with the passport application which gets returned back to you via USPS. I wanted to make a physical copy of the naturalization certificate before I apply for the passport. Will go to my local USPS office today. I had made an appointment in advance, once I knew the date of my oath ceremony.

Had my oath ceremony also last Tuesday 9/24. As shared by others, it was a great experience. Did not apply for my passport 
after the ceremony but instead went to a post office right after and applied that way. Paid for the expedited service so
I should be getting my passport in about 3 weeks. 

Good luck to all of you soon becoming U.S. Citizens.

I would like to add that if you are able to wait at the venue to submit the passport application, do so by all means. Between by spouse and I, we spent an additional $95.50 at the post office :  $35 /pp execution fee + $25.50 for next day delivery (optional). If you submit at the venue , you will save a minimum of $70 between two people.

Guys, I’m a little worried. I had my interview today, and got a “decision cannot be made” check box. When I asked her if anything was wrong, she said she just hadn’t had time to review the file properly, that everything looked ok on the face of it and I should get an approval /oath schedule notice in the mail soon, otherwise she’d let me know if I needed to send in anything else. She also said “this is just the way we do it” but I know from here and from overhearing others in the waiting room that many get recommended for approval on the spot. (I did see another person interviewed by the same officer look kind of pensive on the way out. ) I don’t know whether to get worried or not..l mean, if there was an issue or concern with the application, she surely would have told me what it was, right?

@SusieQQQ I wouldn’t worry. You will see the approval notification in 2-3 days. They have officers in training who need their supervising officer to approve it & sign off. The training officers are not authorized to approve it immediately. I have read others posting similar concerns & all of them got approved in a couple days. Good luck!

Hey guys. Been a while since I’ve been on but we just got a status changed online and I’m got a text message. Our interview date has been scheduled. Got a email on Sept 27. Now awaiting online for document to upload so we can check the actual date. Been a long journey almost at the end
