I went to walmart today for job orientation and I was told  they don’t recognize the letter so I should leave and they will call me back, because they have to verify the extension letter or I should go and wait till I get the card.

Explained myself and explained everything but still, I show them my drivers license which is not expired, still they said they will call me back.

Am comfuse.

Did you show them your expired greencard and the extension letter? I also transfered jobs just about a month ago. They also told me that they don't know about that, I told them that I can't help it the CSC is so slow. That's what the extension letter is for. They just photocopied my greencard and the letter then sent it to whatever department that screens new employees

I'm booking a trip home and my airline wants the details of my green card for re-entry, but isn't letting me process it because it's expired. Anyone experienced this? Should I put the expiry date based on my 18-month extension letter?

So my wife and I bought tickets to South Korea for early next year. Upon reading some information on the consulate website we may have an issue.

"For nationalities other than the U.S., individuals must submit original of their U.S. permanent resident card or valid U.S. visa - the visa itself must not have expired. Stay extensions or change of status in the U.S. approved by USCIS is not accepted as a valid U.S.visa."

This concerns us since obviously her green card is expired, but we have the 18 month extension letter with us. Im concerned she might not get the visa and we could bone our trip. What to do in this situation?

I agree with the others and would do the extension date. Let us know how that goes for you since I don't think this question has come up in the group before?

The extension letter is a validation of your green card status. It should be interpreted as your green card, therefore carrying the same weight and privilege as a regular card should. We have seen instances where that isn't the case, but I should think here it should be?

Got appointment to Immigration office today, went and got my passport stamped, for one year till equals to 18 months extension expiration date.

And she said I can travel with the stamp in my passport and work.

then went to social security office for a new card.

February fillers one year more to go. Till October 2019.

Good luck 🍀👍🏽 😉  🍀👍🏽 🙏🏽🇺🇸

Hey, thank you for sharing! That is really helpful. Glad you got everything sorted out. I am just curious why do you need a new Social Security Card: is it b/c your new employer requires you to provide it?

After work authorization I have to go in to remove the condition on social security card.

Long time, but I never did.
