My n400 interview is a month away, and I’ve been reading up on ppl who didn’t sign up for selective service, I’m 28 now and I sent in my status of information letter and statement about why I didn’t register for selective service with my n400 application but now I’m reading on how the interview will go and I’m somewhat worried.

Can anyone give me any insight on this matter? Anything than can help me prepare for the interview, anything else I should take? Anything at all I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance

@AAli313. At the age of 26, I was a non-immigrant alien (visitor visa). Based on that, I wrote to Selective Service with whole bunch of documentations. In return, I was issued a letter stating that I did not registered because I was not required. Do you have a similar kind of letter? I submitted that letter with my application and the question never came up in my interview.  Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply.

i do have that status of information letter already and signed statement explaining why. I as my interview today and passed and everything was good until they said a decision cannot be made yet on my case and I have to submit a “advisory opinion” letter from selective service and turns that that paper doesn’t even exist?

They told me they’re asking for something impossible without straight up denying my application.

I don't understand.  If you were a non-immigrant, the question about selective service registration did not apply to you (see the instructions right below the question) and you would just put in "no."  Why did you think you needed to obtain a letter?

I see what you're saying and you're probably correct. The letter was obtained back in 2013 when i was applying for Financial Aid (school). I was selected for verification and had to provide proof on why i did not sign up.

When applying for N400, I did select "no" but submitted a copy of that letter (for double protection).

Does anyone know if any post or thread that has any good news about a male failing to register for selective service and providing a status info letter/sworn statement, and actually was approved.

I have no hope at this this point but wait to be denied. 😞
