Haven't been able to find out.  The best I could find was "25 healthy adults".  I assume it would be similar to compensation given out for drug trials.

Except even a Phase 1 Clinical Trial for an investigation drug is with the purpose of clinical benefit. Not for the volunteers receiving it in Phase 1 (except in cases like Cancer or other critical terminal illnesses), but for future patient's benefits.

 

This is like a clinical trial for something that we don't want exposure to. We can probably assume the monkey study was done before the human study which at face value is not that unusual (except again because here this isn't for the purpose of healing, but for the purpose of understanding the risk of harm).

 

You wouldn't get me to volunteer for that without serious compensation.

Agreed.  Seems like they were trying to use the data for putting a good light on diesel engines.  I think the end result was pretty dumb from their standpoint, and will do more harm for diesel passenger cars than they already did with their engine calibration scandal (VW).

Vw is no longer going to be doing diesel.  They are going to invest the r and in hybrid technology

I've got a Mercedes diesel SUV, bluetec clean diesel, that I absolutely love.  Really clean with no smell and minimal emisions.  Great economy and unbelievable power.  No longer available.  Thanks VW

This is truly sad.  One of the best engines and drive trains I have ever owned.  45+ MPG with lots of power in those TDIs.  Once got 52 MPG.  

 

I see GM is capitalizing on the situation.  Almost makes one wonder...
