Hello to everyone!

I'm a self-prescribed TRT (testosterone replacement therapy) user for few years. I live outside of US and in my country there is no way how can I obtain prescription. TRT is just not considered as a legit therapy of any kind. I'm planning trip to Phillipines now and recently read about all these scary "Death to drugs traffickers" laws in PI. I'm scared (to say the least) so the question is whether someone had any issues in situation like this ? What is your experience with the PI customs ? Do they look inside your luggage ? If testosterone vial (only one) is found what's next ?

Thank you.

I don't have specific experience with testosterone, but I have extensive experience traveling internationally as a competitive athlete -- including with supplements, etc. It is absolutely not worth the risk of entering the Philippines with a controlled substance.

You can try some or all of these strategies:

1. Research whether testosterone can be legally and safely obtained in the Philippines. If so, you can try making an appointment with a doctor for early in your trip, and obtain enough testosterone for the duration of your stay.

2. Travel to another country to get a prescription, or get a virtual prescription from a U.S. doctor. You should still further research, though, as a prescription from one country will not necessarily be honored by another.

3. Speak to someone at your local Philippine consulate regarding the requirements for traveling to the Philippines with testosterone.

4. Use legal (do research regarding specific laws of the Philippines) testosterone boosters for the duration of your trip.

5. If possible, wean yourself off the testosterone and go without for the duration of your stay.

Have to say while traveling to the Philippines in general is pretty easy going with customs, naturally if they find something suspicious they do have all the rights to search your luggage. As above I would take time to research it and if you honestly can't find a specific answer, it may always be best to try is possible to just leave it at home during the trip, again if possible.

First of all self prescribing drugs is a major no no. I don’t know specifically about the Philippines, although I’ve heard they are very harsh on drugs there, but traveling internationally with drugs without a valid prescription is a problem. They always advise not to do it, and with a country like the Philippines with drug laws so harsh, why risk it? Either get a real prescription for whatever drugs you’re taking with you, and to state the obvious it needs to be on your name, or go a few days without your drugs.

You can't prove that the vial is testosterone. I've worked as an ER nurse for 15 years - people put all sorts of other substances in vials (even capped!) and it's honestly not worth the risk.

First off, if it was not prescribed by a doctor you can't legally bring it with you. That would be very dangerous thing to do.

Second off there are a lot of known risks to being on Testosterone therapy and you should be closely monitored by a physician if you are on testosterone therapy. I think you should worry less about Duterte's policies ending your life early and more about your own poor judgement ending it early. Go see a real endocrinologist since you are not one.

First off Capital Punishment was abolished about 10 years ago in Philippines.

It's been many many years since I have seen the saying "Death to drug traffickers' on the paperwork you use to get on the plane or at the airport that you filled out and gave to immigration.

Only death now of days to drug pushers is by the DDS or affiliates
