i heard from some people that they passed the GC interview even after the k-1 medical expired some were asked to redo it after the interview.

so i think it really depends on your situation and the officer.   I think best not to redo it unless you are specifically told to do it.

Yeah, it very depends. Someone just replied me that s/he got RFE at interview for not having I-693 despite the fact that his/her medical exam is still valid and DS 3205 is showing complete.

Are you guys going to call them?

or just ignore the online update and go by the letter that we received in mail?

I'm definitely not calling. Hubby thinks that if we call they will think there has been an error and they may cancel the interview. I'm not too worried because the official letter is correct.

So I just went on another forum that I don't like and their pages are all a buzz with January filers receiving their interview letters but online case status showing employment based instead of family based. It looks like this is far more widespread than I initially thought. I am starting to panic, thinking that maybe there has been some huge error somewhere. I really need my AP or GC before June :( I'll be devastated if this turns out to be a USCIS error.

Don't worry abt it. Take your letter and go to your interview as if u didn't even get the update. At least that's what I would've done!! Good luck

Hi everyone.

I'm a February filer but thought I may as well ask here too.

I got a RFIE asking for my English birth certificate to be translated into English. I was expecting it but I'm still annoyed obviously.

I sent my stuff off to a translator but they said they cannot do that as it is not a translation.

Can all UK people who had to also have this done help please. Can I do the translation myself?

And here I thought I was the pessimist.

Everything will be okay because it has to be. *fingers crossed*

Can you clarify? Why does an English birth cert need translating?

Your guess is as good as mine. Basically all UK filers have had this problem.

We all assume the issue is because birth certificates in the UK are hand written.

Mine is hand written and I haven't received any RFEs throughout the whole process.  It's pretty badly hand written too.

That's really frustrating to hear but I guess it's the luck of the draw. I know I'm not the only one who got this RFIE. Mine is very well written and very clear to read.

I'm sorry I haven't got any answer for you... but you have got me worried that mine will now be rejected, although this is the first I have heard of this throughout my journey and I've used my birth certificate several times. I'll have a look into it.

As an American, apologies for my country's bureaucracy.  That's simply unacceptable that they can't be bothered to read something that's clearly in English.

I have just done some reading on British expats, a couple ho got the same RFE sent another copy recorded mail with a cover letter basically saying this is English already and it was accepted. The general consensus from the thread I just read seems to be that it is an error on USCIS's part.
