Minneapolis-St. Paul MN Office AOS Filers

Just as I have almost finished preparing everything for my combo card extension/renewal, I got an update that my interview is now scheduled for the 7th of March 2018. Just to play it safe, as my card expires on the 15th of May 2018, I'm still going to send it off. I'm just wondering where to send it off to? I applied for my combo card with my AOS to Chicago and someone has told me to send it there, but I am reading different places which has confused me. I had my biometrics done last year in Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN, the state where I live if that's any help. I'm assuming that's where the interview will take place as well? 

 

Also, if anyone can confirm I have answered these questions right:

Q.18 'Status at Last Entry' - I have put down 'K1 Adjustment of Status.' Is that right? I came back from abroad using my combo card in September.

Q.19 'Current Immigration Status' - Again I have put down 'K1 Adjustment of Status'  Is that also right?

 

I have read somewhere that the combo card gets automatically extended after sending it off and if you don't get the extension/renewal by the time your current card expires it automatically extends for 180 days? Does that apply to us being under the category 'C9?'

 

@sebastianshaw you mentioned that it automatically gets extended? So I should be still good if I send it off this week despite it expires on 15th of May 2018? Cause isn't there like a 90-120 day processing time normally?

Hope everyone is doing well. USCIS just updated their processing time several days ago, and it is now saying by the end of 11/30/2017 they were processing cases from 08/12/2016. Small progress is still progress. Also, given that @sebastianshaw @USpatial @sausa have all received interview schedule or even passed the interview, I assume that they are processing cases filed in 02/2017 now. Good luck!

I applied 120 days before expiry on my card. (180 days before is the limit) I think you are taking the right decision by applying for renewal because these days it is pretty common for USCIS to sit on your file without a final decision for even 2-4 months after interview

Have any May (or later) filers seen their i-130 status change online? Ours hasn't changed since they received it. I am wondering if the holdup is at MSC or the MSP field office.

Probably in field office. People who filed application in late February 2017 just received interview schedule. So I think you need to wait for another 3 months or so.

I filled on June 7th, 2017 and no news yet. We might hear news by end of Spring/ summer

Hi MN filers, just wanna update the newest processing time from our local office. Looks like they speed up a bit in December (from 08/12/2016 to 09/18/2016 in one month), kudos to staff who work hard during the holiday season

Why does it seem like the months and numbers are the same? LOL

In all honesty, what they really should do is what I am suspecting OH may be doing. They're getting people interviews before they get their EADs - literally within 3-4 months. It makes sense that at some point there had to be a backlog of applications for adjustment of status/green cards. They came up with the EAD to give those seeking a green card a way to start working while they wait. A 60 to 90 day wait is standard. Now the wait is approaching 6 months. So how long will it take before USCIS realizes they are tying up resources processing Combo card applications?

Not that my rant is worth anything, but I say they do away with the Combo cards and reallocate resources and manpower to get those adjustment of status cases out the door in 6 months or less.

Sure, it will suck for those who have already been waiting for 6 months but I think that will bring the production line up to date. Just my humble two cents.

I totally understand your frustration, but EAD/AP is not processed by local office, they are only in charge of i485 interviews.

In the past several months their paces have been 10-15 days/month, this time it's 37 days/month, and that's why I think its a good sign. Maybe they have finalized the office moving situation or hired new employees. Anyway, we have to be patient. Good luck on your application!

I agree with you...the point of issuing EAD/AP ahead is to allow people work/travel legally to support their family. This can be completely eliminated if the field office i-485 process is faster.

They don't really follow a schedule on updating, but I will keep an eye on it and post updates here!

My case has been pending for 150+ days, which is 40% of the total expected waiting time for MN filers. And I have patience. :-D
