Thanks for all the well wishes. :D I'll be starting May 1st!

I'll be animating for a small video game developer in the LA area (about an hour commute in light traffic). The co-founder of the company called me last night at about 6pm (I had been waiting nervously after last Thursday's interview).

This last layoff really caught me off guard. The only computer I have at home is a 7 yr. old laptop and I hadn't bothered to update my animation software (Maya 7), thinking my computer was too slow to even run it.

I really should have been spending time at home, animating for myself - doing what I wanted to do. It was my dream to work for some place like Pixar when I got out of college, and I hope that I will be more committed to that dream even if it never happens - just to know that I gave it my best.

Also, I was using a talent agency - it's nearly impossible to know the hundreds of studios are out there or when there is a position available. They had submitted my resume and demo reel to over a dozen different companies across the country. A handful were interested enough for a phone interview and a couple took it to the next step of giving me a test, but that was about it. So I know I'm very fortunate that something came through finally.

Big PHEW!

That is fantastic news! It's so hard having someone out of work for any length of time.

You will let us know when there's something you've worked on that we should be looking out for, right?!

Make sure you're wearing clean knickers. You never know when you'll be run over by a bus.
