checklist for i-130 (doublecheck)

hello all,

 

sending out my i-130 on 11/20. i am almost done filling out the paperwork but i just wanted to make sure that there is no specific way to fill out this form? All Caps? N/A for every section that we do not need to fill out, or just leave blank?

 

any help will be greatly appreciated!

hoping i can get a doublecheck here. sending in my packet monday. this is my cover letter checklist. am i missing anything or do i need the documents that i have stated in red??

 

Please find enclosed the following required and supporting documents:

1.    Completed and signed form I-130

2.    Check for I-130 filing fee

3.    Completed and signed form I-130A

4.    2 photographs of petitioner

5.    Copy of my U.S Passport to prove U.S citizenship

6.    Copy of my birth certificate

7.    Copy of our marriage certificate

         2 Photographs of Beneficiary 

8.    Copy of beneficiary’s birth certificate and passport

9.    Copies of affidavits sworn to or affirmed by third parties having personal knowledge of the bona fides of our marriage

10. Copies of evidence of our relationship since December 24, 2013, evidence from our marriage ceremony and reception from 2017.

-       Packet A- 2014

-       Packet C- 2016

-       Packet D- 2017

-       Packet E- Wedding Reception

-       Packet F- Honeymoon in Thailand

11.  History of Vacations (Flight & boarding Information)

Yes, you need the documents stated in red.

Looks like in the updated guide in Visa Journey, beneficiary's birth certificate and passport are no longer required.

However, if you do want to attach them, make sure to attach beneficiary's birth certificate in native language and the certified English translation.

I sent a copy of my spouses passport with the I-130, but it's not required. You should try to send your packet as complete as possible, but most likely if something is missing you'll get an RFE. I would also include form G-1145...this allows them to email & text you when your case is received. So you don't have to wait for it to come in the mail. They will still mail it to you, but this notifies you much sooner. 😊

As someone said- birth certificated is needed for nvc , as well as passport photos. Usually also all the “proofs” (11-17) go to nvc if uscis wont send rfe for it specifically

Why I lined out the items above:

• Beneficiary's birth certificate and passport come later, there is no advantage including it now.
• Affidavits carry little to zero weight in the overall evaluation of a file and they are not required; you have plenty of other evidence of time spent together in-person which is your strongest evidence.
• Engagement ring appraisal and receipt is worthless, the mere fact you bought a ring and its value does nothing to establish your bona files as a couple.
