Hi members am a dv2018 winner from Ghana, I have used previous dv photo for 2018 but yet to fill the DS-260 will I be disqualified during interview? also I got married on 17th December last year but had my marriage certificate on 13th of August this year, will this a problem? since Ghana embassy is considered to be one of the most notorious and fraudulent

Any help will be highly appreciated

No one knows about the photos, this is the first year they have explicitly said people will be disqualified for using old photos. No one can say if they will actually check the photos vs old submissions when you go for interview. They’ve only just begun interviews for DV2018 so we are still awaiting feedback on how such cases progress.

Getting a marriage certificate after the actual wedding is not usually a problem. I am assuming your certificate states the correct date of the marriage. It might be helpful if you can bring something else to prove it happened in December, if you are worried the certificate may be seen as fraudulent.

Am not worried at all about my marriage certificate but my worried is the reused photo

My name appear on the EDV system as Sumani Abdul-Fatawu Braimah but the Sumani which is my ground father name doesn't captured in any of my documents

Other Surnames used.. ....

Other first names used.. ..

How do I fill this portion on the DS-260

On my high school certificate and university certificate my name has been writing as A. Fatawu Braimah where A is Abdul but on my birth certificate, passport, marriage certificate and DS-260 is Abdul-Fatawu Braimah will the name been abbreviated as A.  on my educational documents show as red flag?

Also DS-260 does not accept the acent - on the system so how do handle it since is also part of my name

The edv instructions were that the name is to match the passport.

I don’t know enough about your naming system to advise on how to fill the other names in, I’m afraid, hopefully someone else can help.

the abbreviation on the education document should not be a problem.

The systems don’t accept accents etc - you will “lose” these as part of your official name should you move to the US.

But I hope DS-260 not capturing the accent - will not lead to disqulification at the interview

No of course not. It’s actually somewhere in the instructions for filling in the forms that you fill in the “plain” Roman letter for any letters that have any kind of accent etc in your native alphabet.

Indeed your response is really helping me a lot may God bless you

So do mean the accent - will be kept at native alphabet colum on the DS

My wife is not moving to u s with me now because of her education but I have indicated that am married, I  hope going alone without my wife will not disqualify me

It’s fine about your wife, I presume you will sponsor her to join you later when her education is complete.

Bear in mind that sponsoring a spouse is longer and more expensive than bringing her with on DV - may I ask how long till she completes her education? It may make sense, depending when your interview is and how much time she has left to complete it, to get her a DV visa with you. Then, she comes to the US to activate her green card then goes home to complete the education - this will only work if she won’t be longer than a year away from the US after the initial activation.  Bear in mind she doesn’t have to accompany you to activate, she can come later as long as it’s before her visa expires. Example: if you interview in March (I have no idea when your date is, just an example), she can come as late as probably September to activate her green card, then she only needs to return to the US by September 2019. So she can push for something like close to 18 months after the interview if she plans right. If you sponsor her as a spouse of a permanent resident later you will have to file a petition, pay filing fees on that, show you can support her with an affidavit of support on which you need to be earning a certain minimum, and then wait for a visa number (I don’t know exactly but I think that can take about a year).

I don’t know about the education, you’ll need someone from Ghana who understands the grading system to look at that. I’d think that if you went to university it’s ok but I can’t say for sure.
