Hi everyone,

Hope you are all doing well. I wanted to update on my InfoPass appointment. I went today to ask why my approved I-131 has not been delivered (I received approval notice on Nov 29, 2017) and was told that the post office could not deliver it and NBC does not currently have it. The immigration officer told me it means I will have to apply for I-131 again, basically starting the whole process over again.

I'm really upset because I have made all arrangements for wedding and travel in late March, and it looks like it might not happen. But it's ok - I guess some time life does not go the way you want it and there are things out of your control. Therefore I will focus on other aspects of my life.

On a side note, I asked about my I-485, which has been in "case ready to be scheduled for an interview" since September 26 and was told that "the case is almost ready to be picked up". The officer said that online status is one thing, but what it means is that my case is ready to be picked up by the local field office. For Chicago, he said that it could be another 1-2 months, which is consistent which what I heard that the Chicago field office usually schedules interviews within 4-5 months. Hope this information is useful for some of you Chicago filers! Good luck everyone!

I would definitely reach out to my congress person! This does not make sense at all, and you have your numbers and everything so they have to be able to retrieve your information and at least review said documents!

EAD - 162 Days still nothing

Made 3 Service requests (2nd one was assigned to an officer wich they told me that my case is pending and that the cases are being reviewed in order they are received such BS!)

Contacted lawyer - no help

Contacted Ombudsman - got a response after 2 weeks that they contacted uscis and they will contact me back when they get a response from them.

Talked to a tier 2 officer - she said my case is pending and pretty much told me to wait as I made a service request on January 2nd

Can you try to expedite it? Waiting 161 days so far, and trying the expedite route even though I don't think it qualifies.

On the expedite I just wanted to write "IT'S BEEN 161 DAYS AND YOU'RE GIVING NOVEMBER FILERS THEIR EAD/APs, YOU DON'T NEED AN EXPEDITE REASON"

I sadly share that exact feeling.

Same here. 165 days. Will call again tomorrow, had hopes of finding something in the mail today but nothing.

Serious question to those who are still waiting for their EAD/APs -- how long do you think we could be waiting, worst case scenario? What's the longest it seems it takes? 6 months? 8? 1 year?

That's a good question. We August filers are reaching six months at this point so I wouldn't be surprised if we (the ones who have NOT received EAD/AP) just get our interviews and green cards without ever receiving the EAD/AP.

My case is still not at the "ready to be scheduled" stage so I don't have high hopes for this either.

Mine isn't either. I'm hoping that the online statues are just inaccurate for us and our files are actually indeed ready to be scheduled. It'd be nice if they were consistent and prompt with the update system. What's the point of having it if it's unreliable?

Yeah, I hope that's true. One of the Tier 2 officers I spoke with in December said it was still at the NBC

It might be worth scheduling an Infopass with the local office. Is that an option for you? Mine is a 3 hour drive from me so it would be pretty hard to do in a day...

I have not seen any case take more than 8 months (for EAD/AP) so we are still in that range lol and really the general aos (marriage based) application no more than one year but guess there can be horrible exceptions.

Mine is also 3 hours away but based on some people's experiences I'm not sure I want to go through all that to just sit in front of an officer without any information or willingness to help. It's such a gamble.

I'm starting to think there's no point in their system. I also feel bad for them (uscis) because yeah they process thousands of immigration applications per day and don't have enough [trained/qualified] people to help. But at the same time... it is their job and it affects our lives and our families. So... I guess they don't feel bad for our cases anyways since no one is looking at them. I just hope that we receive by MAIL any change they do internally on our cases to not miss any possible communication or appointment.

I remember the very first time I called back in August there was no wait time to speak to a T2 officer and now the wait time is like 200 minutes. I'll call tomorrow, again.
