Ms Damond was shot by officer sitting in the passenger seat through driver door

crazy. it will be something special if the cops use the typical 'feared for my life' excuse.

Pretty clear the article wants me to sympathize with the person shot without any details of what happened other than "camera was off".

Maybe I'm just too squishy but I think it is generally reasonable to sympathize with someone who was shot and killed until you have information to suggest they don't deserve sympathy. I'd rather do that than the opposite, where my default would be to assume they "deserved it" and offer no sympathy.

In addition, I feel the article is quite fair in discussing the camera being off. They don't just say "It was off, therefore this cop is a criminal". They explain that the body cameras are off as a default in Minneapolis, and they need to be actively switched on. They also quote that usage of the body cameras is as low as 4%, highlighting that this officer was not "unique" in the fact that his camera was off. It doesn't seem like standard practice to use the body cameras in that area.

I'm trying to visualize what occured.

So she was outside of the car, presumably like looking into the car window. I'm assuming on the same side as the cop who shot her.

Is it possible the firearm discharged accidentally?

More interesting how she got into the US? Suggests on the basis of being engaged but had been here 3 years.

well, until the cops give their official story as to what happened i'm sure it could be accidental. but yes, she was walking up to the car to speak to the officers and it didn't work out well for her is all i guess we know thus far.

How so appropriate to refer to 4 Marines as "trash," while they provide for the security, freedom and privileges you came to this country for.

Yest some people, even people on here, voted for her.

Amazing

And YOU call our Marines, trash. Indeed, disgusting, but they are the very people who make your first amendment rights possible.
