Hey everyone. I sent out my I-130 Packet to the Chicago Lockbox on July 1st. Today, I got an e-mail (because I sent the request for electronic notifications) saying "Your case has been accepted and routed to the USCIS Texas Service Center for processing." My question is... what am I waiting for next? What will the next step be? I thought my case would sit there at the Chicago Lockbox for some time?

Any feedback is welcome and appreciated.

Ashley

Nothing ever sits at a lockbox, all cases get routed to the appropriate service center. Your case will then sit there until someone picks it up to review it. That will most likely take a few months, you just need to wait.

Now you need to wait for your file to get looked at and approved. After you sent it to the Chicago lockbox, it was gonna be forwarded to one of the service centers around the country (Nebraska, California, Vermont, Potomac, Texas). My personal opinion is that Texas is the best (fastest) but some people may differ.

With your USCIS recepit number you can track your case here https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do

On this link (https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processingTimesDisplay.do) you can look at the latest case's receipt date being processed from the official information. Always check the date at the end of the page under the right corner of the table as it represent the update date for the information you are looking at.

And here (http://www.visajourney.com/content/times/) on the right side is the latest processed date for each USCIS service center
