Applying to College While AOS In Progress

How would one apply to college, whilst AOS package has been sent but no Green Card or any other documents have been received yet? No A# has been assigned yet. They ask for a Green Card or proof of permanent residency in college. Has anyone experienced that? If so, what to do in this case? Thanks!

Why not ask the college you intend to apply to? I believe your GC helps in establishing residency status for you at this point.

Regardless, call the college or walk in to ask about their requirement.

You do not need to submit your green card number to apply for college. If they ask for your information, you can provide your passport number, address, etc, when filling in an application. 

 

To enroll in college, I've read colleges/universities accept your pending AOS application. You should call the office for international students to inquire about that as I am not sure how it works exactly. However, if you are just applying, you might have your EAD or green card by the time you have to enroll.

It is possible that each college will have its own requirements.  While one may consider a K1 visa holder  'resident', another may not.  It will be up to the college that you are wishing to attend.  Please call them and inquire as it may affect your tuition. 

 

Obviously non Green Card holders and non residents attend collage.  I attended on an F1 visa.  You won't need a visa but you will need to know their requirements.
