Hello,

Just want to share my experience.

My I-751 was approved June 15th (plus or minus few days), and my 10 year card is still in production. They ordered it on July 7th (quite a wait it seems to me, comparing to  others).

I submitted N-400 (under 3 year rule) online on July 1st. Had same duplicate problem as others, but as many I have just submitted it and if I have to, I ll provide all my hard copies during the interview. So today (july 18) I had my biometric appointment scheduled in Brooklyn , NY at 11 am. Since I have a full time job, I decide to go there at 8 am and then go to work. (I did walk-in previous times even weeks earlier) BUT this morning I was turned away and told to come back at 11 am, or any other time AFTER that time/day. I tried arguing and even spoke to USCIS supervisor, but no luck. I came back at 11 and was done in 15 minutes. I was allowed to work from home today, so no issues with the employer.

Anyone going to Brooklyn office - be aware of the above.

Since applying, paying and till biometrics its been a fast process, now I can only wait and see if it will be any faster then 1 year estimate for NYC office they have posted on uscis.gov.

Anyone from NYC who applied before July 1st here?

Question for you---when checking online, what kind of lag did you see in terms of viewing notices sent/being able to download letters?  Trying to figure out the time difference between letters being posted online and actual letters mailed out.

There is a June 2016 Filers thread you can check out and see how they are progressing.

Based on my experience, the PDF version of the biometric/interview/oath ceremony letters are posted online about 4-5 days before the paper versions show up in the mail.

I m sorry, i just checked, and I applied on June 27th , so my NOA showed up online the next day - the 28th ( i have downloaded it that day) . On July 1st i got an email about scheduled appointment, but notice showed up online only on July 3rd ( hence the weekend?). Letters came in mail 3-4 days after each one of the above.

I started to question the lag when I applied online on the 14th and on the 17th I still hadn't seen the NOA PDF show up.

Mysteriously, it only appeared at the exact same time I was on the phone with a Level 2 officer on the 17th questioning the PDF delay and he was "moving things around" on his computer (his words).  So I think somehow he gave it an online push (or it was mere coincidence).

Since then, I've been concerned about whether or not I'll see anything posted on my online account going forward.  I know I'll get the notices in the mail (still waiting for the paper version of the NOA receipt), but it'd be reassuring to see online too.

Yes, I had signed up for email and text notifications and recall that I got text and email notifications indicating that my case status had changed. I recall that some of these were specific to the type of change - scheduled you for an interview, you file has been passed for quality assurance, you have been placed in line for an oath ceremony, your oath ceremony is scheduled etc. In the case of the interview, I attended my biometrics appointment on Feb 27th and bypassed the 'inline for interview' stage altogether and I got the 'we have scheduled you for an interview' text on March 1st however it too a day or so for the PDF to show up in my online account so I could see what date/time the interview had been scheduled for (April 5th) and the same was true for my oath ceremony invitation where there was a lag of a couple of days between the notification text and the document becoming available to review online. The three texts advising of the QA of the file to being scheduled for an oath ceremony all arrived in the space of about 10-15 mins only a few hours after I had completed my interview.

Wow I'm impressed at how quickly you moved from the biometrics stage to the actual interview date!

The only time I received an email (thus far) was the day after my submission telling me that my status had been updated.  When I went into the ELIS account, there was nothing there, just a blank space so it was quite anti-climatic lol

I'm praying that going forward I will receive the email notifications and PDF downloads as I move through the process.  I'm sure I will.

The only email that I have is for the payment confirmation. However, when I check on the website, I do see the NOA receipt. Is that normal? Should I have received a NOA notification as well? If not then would you let me know on how to enable the text/email notification? I am not quite sure if I have done this already or not. I appreciate the help!

A very kind person once shared this with me...hope it helps you as well:

Log in to https://my.uscis.gov/apply/naturalization

On the homepage there should be a section titled "Recent Notices".

In the section, under column "Notice Type" you should be able to see "Receipt Notice". Click on that and the digital NOA will either open in a new window (and you can save it from there) or it will automatically download onto your computer.

If you don't find anything under "Recent Notices" then right above that section you'll see  "Try it now; or re-visit the new account experience". Click on that and you will be redirected to another page.

Click on the blue bar that says "Application for Naturalization"

The bar will expand to show a section titled "Case History" under which you will see "Receipt Notice".

Click the "download" button beside it and you have your digital NOA

Under your cases filed, there will be an option to sign up for email/text---it's very small print and easily missed.  If you see the letter N(o), click on the case to change it to a Y(es)

Also, in your profile page on the webpage, make sure your communication preference is set to email, or text, or both.

Thank you, Sam.  This link works for the N-400 status for me when the original link started to malfunction.  It gets me to the main status page, but I still hang going to the new electronic N-400 page.  That is OK as we have already filed, we can least read and update our status now.  :D

This is why I never believe anything a L1 representative tells me.  Mind-boggling that she didn't know this.

Anytime I have a question, I request to speak with an L2 officer.
