Reports I'm hearing are disturbing. Police did not respond very fast to the stabbing scene being focused on the first scene, leaving shopkeepers and residents to try and attack the multiple men stabbing women in the throat. Photo of some man on the ground, maybe potentially one attacker, looks like he's wearing a suicide vest or a tactical vest with something that looks like pipe bombs visible (some witnesses say they were wearing vests)? Some saying there are multiple explosions.

8 minutes from start to finish, so that's pretty quick and includes both scenes. 3 terrorists shot and killed at  the second scene at Borough Market.  8 minutes is very fast.

Reports of those vests shows that they were fake.

It started well before 1971, both sides had been goading each other for a long time before the bombings started. The IRA had a bomb explode in Belfast mid 1970 at a bank, 30 injured. Depending on who you ask you will be offered dates of incidents predating the Ormeau attack some going back into the 60's. Back then it was a real mess with both Dublin and London bickering and unable or unwilling to find a solution.

Not sure how you can protect against attacks like this when the attackers are already inside your country. Police seem to have done a really good job tonight shutting the attack down so quickly. 

 

It's sickening being caught up in the panic of something like this, been through it too many time before. Running and not knowing if your running away or towards the attack is scary.
