You shouldn't have any problems with that. I still have my maiden name in my Russian passport and IO didn't have any questions about it when I went to get my I-551 stamp in June. However, I would advise you to grab your marriage certificate just in case. I had a problem with the DMV because the last name on my expired GC and the last name in my passport with the stamp are different.

Perfect! Thank you for your answer. I called USCIS yesterday freaking out about it, spoke with a very nice gentleman. He suggested what you said, bring my marriage certificate, just in case..He said to bring a couple of passport photos, because if there IS an issue with putting that stamp in my passport, they will give me a I-94 and they have to attach a photo to it. That's what I'm going to do, JUST in case. You never know. I'm just mad at myself now, because I apparently I could have gone to a SS office and with my green card asked to get that "with DHS authorization" restriction removed....I didn't know..UGH. Oh well...All this mess and wait should be over soon...I'm the lucky CSC filer. LOL

Yes, you are very optimistic. I like the way you think but......

I'm going to be Debbie Downer and suggest you change that train of thought.

Fall starts in just 2 months and late fall is 4.  Think winter baby!! As in 2019, winter!!

Yeah!  Finally!

However, have we seen or heard proof its actually speeding up CSC approvals?  Not really.  Especially seeing this is the 3rd time they've announced this (mass) transfer.

They also did this on:

July 19, 2018

We transferred some of the following cases from the California Service Center to the Vermont Service Center:

  •  I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence

March 7, 2018

We transferred some of the following cases from the California Service Center to the Texas Service Center and Nebraska Service Center:

  • I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence

So, one would think with these 3 transfer one of us following this thread would have some info to report on others receiving notice of their case transfer which would confirm USCIS actions are productive.

I occasionally browse other monthly threads and haven't seen a whole lot of CSC'ers rejoicing because their time is near.  I have seen one or two but I highly doubt USCIS transferred only this amount.

USCIS

I agree with you 1000%

I began thinking "maybe I shouldnt apply for N-400 because they may just process my case quicker now that it may be transfered"...... a split second later i came back to my senses and realized that this will never happen :D :D haha

I plan to file for N-400 in October regardless.

Im an October 2017 CSC filer just following a few I-751 threads before and after October 2017 filers and just wanted to throw some updates in here :D

Good luck to everyone!

I actually think it has, when you think about - they were processing December 2016 cases a month ago back in June/May end. Now all of sudden, we have cases in February/March and even April get approved. The case transfers along with the large number of N-400 applicants who didn't wait for their I-751 to be processed has resulted in the backlog being eased up a little bit. My prediction is that by year end they will be at par with VSC if the trend of trasnfers  to NSC,TSC,VSC continues

They are transferring cases to Vermont even so there are plenty of initial Vermont filers who are still waiting for their cases to be touched. It is a very interesting way to fix things.

Some time ago Vermont was called as a "black hole" - processing time was horrible and to help the Office out they started sending cases out to different USCIS Offices, including California. Which now seems to be a "black hole". So - it's  "balanced" now :)

Anyway, it's normal practice to help an Office with a backlog it's experiencing.

Besides, they don't just send cases out to Vermont - Texas and Nebraska also got involved. Plus - a bunch of local Offices due to huge stream of N-400 filed while I-751 is still pending.

P.S. There are some October-December 2016 California filers, still waiting..THAT IS really sad.

Vermont seems like a "black hole" to me right now :) Anyways, I hope all of us June filers will get some good news soon. The cases right before mine and after mine were approved, so I hope they won't just keep ignoring my case for much longer.

Hi guys,

I just wanted to update you all about my experience getting my I-551 stamp in my passport. I got an appointment online but was 2 weeks ahead so I decided to go to my local office and do a walk-in, I got there by 8am (they open at 8am) and the officer there said they don't do walk-ins anymore, I told them I really needed it for a job and maybe travel, they took a phone and called someone (I guess another officer inside) asking if I could get allowed in without an appointment. So they let me in and I had to wait in line for all the people with appointments to get attended first, so I waited for about 45 minutes.

I asked the lady why it was taking so long for RoC to be processed (even though I already knew why, CSC backlog) and she told me the CSC was really busy and that I should expect about 6 more months of wait, I don't think she knew exactly how much, just said 6 months to be safe. I got my stamp for one year (from the day I was there, not my GC expiration day) and left the building without any other problem. She also made sure I was under the 30 day extension expiration date before giving me the stamp.

Went yesterday to get my I-551 stamp in Chatsworth, CA.  Showed up for my appt., sat down and waited about 10 mins to get called up to the window to be told that they systems were down and that I would have to come back one day later to get processed.

Thankfully my work provides me the flexibility to do so, and I went in today.  I was the only in the entire Infopass side.  I sat there and waited about 30 minutes to get called to the window.  The staff was in a meeting so that was the reason for the delay.

At the window I was asked about my biometrics, confirmed my address and was told that processing was still at 18-20 month wait. She gave me a year extension and kept my 2 year expired green card.  Once at the window the process took about 5 minutes.

Easier than expected.  This forum has been great at letting me know what to expect next.  Hoping to be done with this by October.  Again, that is wishful thinking.

ROC

5/31/17 mailed packet to CSC priority mail

6/05/17 NOA1 received.  (Dated 6/1/2017)

6/17/17 NOA2 received.  Biometrics Appt. on 6/27

6/27/17 Biometrics completed
