Hey folks,

Just a quick one.

I'm filling in my DS-160 and it won't let me submit my actual real surname because it has a hyphen in it.
I read a few other people's posts where they got the given names and surnames mixed up and it didn't seem to be a problem.

If I skip the hyphen (EVANS PRITCHARD instead of EVANS-PRITCHARD) am I going to have an issue down the road? Is there something I need to do to let them know that my name actually has a hyphen in it?

Follow up: Is this going to be a problem for future applications!??

You should be fine without the hyphen. My partner for instance, has two first names. He just uses a space but most programs or online forms you fill out, tend to erase the space and put the two names together as one. Never has been an issue honestly.

Take the hyphen out and use SPACE instead.

so your last name will be EVANS PRITCHARD..

@IcezMan_IcezLady You don't recommend using a hyphen with USCIS applications? I'm currently having a hyphen issue and it's zero fun. They keep leaving it out... I want a hyphen though.
