I tell you what, with my in-laws (especially the first gen immigrants from China, Laos, Thailand, etc.), I've never in my life experienced the kind of non-stop racism I hear from these in-laws. It's bad. I can't imagine how crazy these white libs would go if it was white people saying the stuff they say. Some of the stuff they say in English but a lot of it my wife tells me because she knows and speaks several languages, and one can tell the demeanor they have is completely different around people of other races (especially blacks).

 

White people in the USA have advanced exponentially since the days of slavery, and later Jim Crow. As you can see with the left, they treat things like we're still in the Jim Crow or slavery days, which is why they mention slavery, Jim Crow, the KKK, etc. all the time, but absolutely nothing of modern reference.

Reading this comment by a local man made more sense to me than most of what I have read so far.

 

Kenneth Jackson, who is African-American, argued that the controversy surrounding the statues is a new phenomenon that is being perpetuated unnecessarily.

 

“I can tell y’all, we didn’t have these issues. We grew up together. I used to walk through every neighborhood,” he said. “Don’t play black folks for a fool. This disgusts me — and you’re supposed to be our leaders? Our parents didn’t hate the statue.”

Seeing historical statues and monuments might open people in that region to appreciate their culture and heritage more. The left are out to deconstruct that (especially since the left want them as voters), starting with the school systems, indoctrinating children, and removing anything from sight that might celebrate their heritage by denouncing it purely as racist. Clearly there are plenty of jurisdictions with no backbone, but there are some still left who have one, and I hope for the sake of their children not being completely indoctrinated by the left they tell them to pound sand.

Removing the statue will only open up every monument or national park to some nut cake from the far right or left to try shut it down or have it removed.

 

My wife was born in Atlanta near Kennesaw mountain, last trip over we went to the Kennesaw Battlefied Park. During the civil war the mountain was the final hurdle before Atlanta fell, it's history so it has to be told.

 

Shouldn't be too much longer before "In God We Trust" is removed from the US currency, the atheists must be due to have that removed at some point.

We only need to see the hatemonger and troll Richard Spencer up in front of the crowd of protesters to understand that this is not appreciation of any culture or heritage..it is a pretense for hate

Personally I don't see a reason for "In God We Trust" to be there (and it's not because I'm agnostic), but my issue in this thread is more specifically with revisionist history and the attempts to revise history to demonize Southern heritage. There's no revising that the founding fathers were Christian, and likewise wanted to get away from religious imposition, never mind a lack of representation while paying taxes. Whether "God" goes or stays, I don't really care (it's like Christmas being a holiday, it's basis is religion, even though it doesn't need to be celebrated this way, but this is heritage as far as holidays go), but if there's an option, not having it there I think is better. Removing it from the currency doesn't revise history. On the other hand, removing historical monuments and symbols of Southern heritage is a fantastic way of trying to erase history and revise it.

But it's not the statue's fault who stands in front of it preaching and they can't claim ownership of it either.

 

From what I has read that Spencer guy is a piece of **** and it is him who is the pretense of hate.

The statue is an inanimate object so there is no blame

The city is trying to figure out where the statue belongs, no one is going to melt it but the times have changed

Spencer is the troll coming into their neighborhood stiring up trouble
