May Day Protests Turn Violent in Portland as Police Cancel Permits

May Day protests turned violent Monday in Portland, Oregon, where police canceled protest permits, arrested "numerous" people and used gas and non-lethal weapons against demonstrators whom they described as anarchists.

 

Other May Day gatherings around the world were relatively peaceful(Oriz Edit: dishonest media won't report on violence in Berkley and Paris), but police geared up for confrontations in the Pacific Northwest's biggest cities, Portland and Seattle, where previous protests have created havoc.

 

Rallies began at noon (3 p.m. ET) in Portland. Police reported that members of an anarchist group began throwing rocks, lead balls, full cans of soda, glass bottles and "incendiary devices" late in the afternoon. Authorities canceled parade and protests permits about 4:30 p.m.

Between this and all the Trump rallies and marches where they left thousands of signs to be cleaned up by volunteers, the notion that liberals care about their environment can be safely put to rest.

Funny we never saw that kinda stuff from the tea party. Someone please explain to me why these people homos are even allowed to cover their faces. In order to fight it you need to be able to arrest them(even later on, via footage). If they cover their faces, you can't do that. If you're an innocent protester, there is no reason for you to cover your face. Doing so should be an automatic disqualification. As much as I've been vocal about many things Trump has already said or done that I don't approve of, the mere fact that these morons are so pissed off, makes it all worth it.

You are mixing apples and oranges. The violence in Portland started when anarchists started throwing rocks and vandalizing properties including cars. Many of the policemen were wearing ski masks, and they were going around asking people to take cover, because they were about to crack down on the vandals.  I can attest to that, because I was one such person who took refuge inside a store while the police came around with tear gas. You probably would have seen the same type of situation if the anarchists had joined the tea party rallies.

Well they didn't, I wonder why they're always joining protests on the other side though? hmmm. And I'm not mixing anything, plenty of violent rioters of late  covered their faces, are you denying that?

What other side? A protest is a protest. Anarchists - by definition- have no side but their own. I am not denying anything. I'm just saying you have your tea cups mixed.

My teacups are fully in order. Show me where anarchists "joined" tea party demonstrations to do what they have done in the last several months.

IIRC there are cities that have ordinances against masking yourself in public (or in a protest).

 

You wouldn't catch me outside near this kind of protest, never mind in a city without such an ordinance.. without being armed at least.
