It is true though. SFPD came a long way in regards to civil rights, and they are doing their job according to the law. You can't force them to take up an immigration role, nor will they. They already have enough with their duties as it is.

SF and the whole bay area not to mention California as whole do not care about citizens at all. They would rather roll out the red carpet for Illegals instead. I kinda hope I am still living here in CA when they eventually gets struck down by the SC, but that would mean I would have to deal with the increased taxes. But it would be kinda worth it to see them freak out.

There is no excuse for anyone to defend or deny sanctuary cities. This should be nothing to do with politics, this is stupidity at the highest level to allow these criminals to stay. Just reading about it makes me angry, do you guys not want to be safe from guys like this?

From 2005 San Francisco

"Last week, 32-year-old Kathryn Steinle was murdered in San Francisco. The man who's accused of murdering her (who was arrested the day after the murder) is called Jose Inez Garcia-Zarate by federal officials. But when he was released from a local jail in March, he went by Francisco Sanchez.

The murder is getting national attention because Sanchez is an unauthorized immigrant — and because he was released from jail in March despite a request from the federal government to hold him until federal immigration agents could pick him up. So the case has become a referendum on what opponents call San Francisco's "sanctuary city" policy"

And yet, it is not the job of local law enforcement to check on immigration status. America is not a police state, even though it sometimes feels this way.  We have far worse problems with gun violence and nobody proposes legislation our people. Immigration is just an easy fight, because it panders to xenophobia.

Pretty much. I still remember the riots and protests over prop 187. It's so stupid how anyone can support those who disrespect the country they wish to immigrate to but the left are wonderful ambassadors welcoming that behavior to begin with.

Their disdain for following the law and appreciation for breaking it is certainly not something a useful member of any society would emulate.

Gun violence? Come on really stop pandering and talk about the issue at hand. Immigration is a big issue because it has to deal with national security and does not entail any one race offensive group.

So it's ok with you for cities to actively go out and pick up criminals on crappy low level warrants, then release them after they pick up the criminal and thus save him from deportation?

Answer is yes. Pretty obvious it's okay.

But beware legal gun owners. Need to restrict them, they are clearly a problem.

That's BS because I live in LA County and it is true. Do you live in the state? This state and it's various municipalities pander to illegals and divert tax money to help fight deportation even when they break the law.

I'm saying it's ok for our cities to act constitutionally. I'm saying our cities have no jurisdiction over immigration.

It's not true, but it really doesn't matter.

We can all give responses like that but when the violence comes to our own doors it's different. Seriously I think your in denial that there's even a problem.

That's what the state's says anyway. I am just glad I bought all my guns out of state before I moved here. The state passed a law last year saying you need a background check every year just to buy ammo.

We've both digressed. Regardless of motive, the White House can't impose immigration duties on the local police, according to the constitution. If you haven't yet, get yourself a copy of the USC and ready it. It will help you understand a lot of the current controversial issues.
