Received the Approval Notice NOA2 but NO UPDATE

Hi everybody,

 

We received NOA2 in mail yesterday, but when we check our status on USCIS website it still says Case was Received.

so my questions are:

1. Is this normal?
2. How long does it take for USCIS to send the approval to the NVC?

It's perfectly normal, happens to a lot of people. (happened to us, too)

 

Our took 12 days to send to the NVC, they received it but we don't have a case number yet. So it takes about 2 weeks for the NVC to receive it.

I agree with SabRob - however I will add that in my case it took over 3 weeks for our file to be sent to NVC. Some people have reported USCIS waiting 6 weeks (!) to send the case to NVC. Lesson - it varies.

Stay on top of your case. Call NVC in 2 weeks time and see if they have received it. If not, wait another week and call them back. Once NVC has received your case, they will tell you they have up to 2 weeks to assign your NVC case number. Good luck!
