I recommend filing for the K-1 when you're physically together in the US. We did that and it was very good for both of us to be part in putting the package together, both of us knew exactly what was in it meaning I knew exactly what documents and info the embassy had about us when I went there for my interview. Then they get wet signatures too even if it's not a requirement, and easy to take US standard size passport photos for $5 at Costco. :P

Welcome.   Your past visits to the US should help. As long as there are not frequent, long trips, it probably won't be a negative factor. You don't really have any ties to return home,

I was a CR-1 filer not K-1, but we sent in our petition whilst I was in the US, near the beginning of an almost 90 day VWP visit. And I visited the US using the VWP again before my visa interview.
