I'll wait right here while you show me where I said one needs to show a 12-year tax return to get a loan.  (Luckily, I have me a Snickers bar handy, cuz I ain't going to be going anywhere for a while.

Loans require proof of income.  Tax returns help provide that.  Two pages are all that are needed.  I can try another language if that helps, but this is really the simplest way I know to say it.

you didn't, you said you only need two pages - but we were talking about trump and his two pages THAT ARE 12 years old. fyi, not going to go back and forth with you on this, no ####### for tat arguing over nothing.

thank you for telling me loans require proof of income, i had NO EARTHLY IDEA. so, if tax returns help provide proof of income to banks do they accept 12 year old tax returns (this is where we're bringing back in the op, if you find yourself wondering how i got the whole 12 year thing).

no seriously, sorry i lead you on and let you think i've never had a loan. i haven't but i've never filed taxes either. or worked. i just get that eic baby.

I never said ANYTHING about 12 year old tax returns being needed for anything.  Some liberal chica diecided to attempt to use them to make Trump look bad on national TV.  After over 20 minutes of build-up, she failed to do so.  Why?  Because A) the info had already been made public, and 2) it shows a valid tax return.  Big deal!

She tried, gotta give her credit for that.  She failed.  Just as you have failed in trying so say I was being condescending, by insinuating I said anything about a 1040-EZ, by implying that I said a 12-year-old tax return was needed to obtain a loan (I said 2 pages, not 12 years), and by trying to say that an IRS form 1040 is 3 pages long, when it is actually only 2 pages (link below for those who are not familiar with the form itself).

I never did (or said) any of those things.  Something's got you all in a tizzy today, not sure why you feel the need to take it out on me.  But it's ok, I'm here for you sweetie.

That explains a lot.  Take your time.  And take them with at least 8 oz of water.  Dehydration is bad, and a common side effect.

They are not your business.  When  are you going to post yours here?

Trump's full tax returns are the business of the American people. There's not much in the two pages from 2005 released and revealed. There is a reason why Donald Trump won't release and disclose his full tax record, perhaps it is as innocent as the fact he thrives on conflict and unsubstanciated rumors, but it's more reasonable to assume that the black eye he has gotten for not doing so is the lesser of the problems he would have if he did release them.

That's a reasonable assumption to make.  I know it's "normal" for presidents to release them, but the reality is that they can be doctored before being shown, they can falsely indicate income and deductions;  "so at this point, what difference does it really make? ®"

I still don't get the concept of "Trump's tax returns are the business of the American people".  Why?  I don't mean Trump's specifically, but any president?

"Individual income tax returns — including those of public figures — are private information, protected by law from unauthorized disclosure. Indeed, the Internal Revenue Service is barred from releasing any taxpayer information whatsoever, except to authorized agencies and individuals."

If a person is going to lie about their taxes, there is nothing that can be done about it, short of them getting caught and being prosecuted for it.  But there are several examples where that concept doesn't work; Al Sharpton comes to mind in recent years.  I am sure there are other past examples.  But just because a person releases their tax records isn't in and of itself an indication of honesty in reporting; it just gives the appearance of transparency, which I guess makes the people feel better about trusting their leader?

Rachel doesn't have to do anything to make Trump look bad, he does that all by himself.

So do K1 and N400. Looks like people on this site would understand. I just sent off for N400. I sent 2 pages of 1040 for each year. I did not send all the schedules and want not .

I appreciate your trying to be the calm voice of reason.  But that attitude has no place here.

(Though it does seem strange that on an immigration site, where the vast majority of posters have gone thru the process, they would have used previous years' returns, and would be familiar with the number of pages, as well as years of returns required.  It's not 1, and it's not 12...)

I guarantee you that if he DID release them, that would become the new narrative.  At least here on VJ it would.

You never gonna get anywhere.  The battle cry has been he doesn't pay taxes for months.  Then this moron reporter in an effort to damage him, proves he did pay taxes. Lots of taxes actually.

Of course the MDL finally got a tax return and was jubilant, until they realized it made the idiot reporter and them look foolish.

Now it's just about denial and butt hurt, very similar to when they lost the election
