Hello everyone,

My fiancée is having an interview on April 13, 2017 for K1 visa. I have 2014 and 2015 tax transcripts, bank statement, paystubs and employment letter. But I have not filed my tax return for 2016 yet. I have made enough income for these past three years to support my fiancée. Can I just submit my W2 for 2016 instead. I am hoping that my fiancée will come and get married and file taxes together. Is it OK to do that? Your thoughts?

Thanks

Technically, you should not have to present ANY 2016 evidence, since the interview is prior to the US tax-due date.  However, I think it is very wise for your fiancee to have a copy of your W2 for 2016.  Some embassies get very weird around tax time...  If your 2014 and 2015 income was way above the 125% poverty line, she will probably not be asked for anything.  If you are close, then it's good for her to have a copy of the W-2!

Good luck!

The tax filing deadline is April 15. Everyone's circumstances are different when it comes to filing taxes. I am waiting for some documentation that I need to include in my filing. Good luck with your interview Mehdi.

for my opinion I think if u already have all u need to file ur tax for 2016,why not u go ahead and do? it will show that ur recent financial stat is well established and u are capable of supporting ur fiance to be married . embassy in Morocco is one of hard tough one, not trying to discourage u, but talking from my personal experience .I will file tax for 2016 hands down as long as u do have all necessary documents .

Thank you guys for the advice. I will definitely file the 2016 taxes and submit them with the affidavit of support to avoid any issues with officers from the US embassy.

Casa does know what an offical IRS transcript looks like and this is what they need

It can be gotten at IRS office after they have completed your tax documents and processed your refund or paymetn so you may be cutting it close

i am not sure but think they may accept copy if done by HR Block or other person / others can comment on this

they really should accept only up to 2015 but i hear others have been asked for 2016

inch allah yessir means God makes things go right
