so we landed couple of weeks ago, really easy transaction! thank god!

after first week we went to check if I can get the Social Security card!! well seems my name was messed up or missing something on the system , so they had to do verification with DHS throw SAVE " https://www.uscis.gov/save/casecheck"

which cleared in almost three days, and done , i got my Social Security Card, to find my grand father name missing!! on it???

Example  lets say my names is : Ahmed Mohamed Belal Mahmoud Abdou

the card came like these Ahmed Mohamed Belal Abdou??? miss the name before Abdou? is that character limitation or what ? cause i checked every form we filled , we had it fully and correct? only same way on the CR-1 visa it self?

so the many  questions i have is... does it matter? can i fix it? how to fix it? and what is the best format to do my name from now on, just first : ahmed and last Abdou!! cause i'm sure its confuseing for Americans to deal with arabic long names...

help would be much appreciated

When I got my daughter SSC in the US last year at the SS office, they could not fit all 5 of her Egyptian/Arabic names as well. They actually cut off a portion of one of her names in the middle and said it was, "Okay, not a problem". When I get back to the states I will try to shorten to just 3 names if possible. I believe you are okay as well; it's just that you're name is too long so they cut from the name in the middle, to keep your last name (the same exact thing happened to Sumayyah's name) You can always go to the local SS office in your city and ask them if you want to be sure. I hope this helps and congratulations with your arrival in the US. :)

thanks for the info, yea . i'm sure our arabic long names is making every one confused, i went back yesterday, and at the SSN office they said they cant change or correct it, as they get it from DHS/CBP and i have to contact DHS to do the change. but he said that is my number i can start use it. no problem,,, i just hope i can correct it , if not then i hope it does not create problems in the near future.

good luck with the interview, hope they schedule you guys fast!!

Thank you, we're still waiting for a date, hope we get one soon! :) Hopefully it will not cause any problems for you. I mean if you can change it, then do so, but it most likely won't have a major negative effect. If asked you can always explain. I too am going to try and change Sumayyah's names a bit too, and I'm sure we will run into the same problem with Ahmed's names. :D

Insha'Allah khair. I'm sure that is what we will need to do for Ahmed as well. His name is very long, and if they couldn't fit our daughter's names on the SSC, then I highly doubt his will fit. But we will see. Good luck with you and I wish you tons of happiness. :)
