Are you a USC? If not, you must become a USC first. From Ghana, you are looking at at least 15 years. It's also one of the categories most likely to be affected by immigration reform.

Spouse, kids, parents are classified as special immigration priority. Siblings not so much, according to the govt.

They are family but they are of lesser urgency than spouses and children. US society inherits the "nuclear family" concept. (You can Google the phrase for more details on it). It is basically consist of a couple and their offsprings (children). Because of this, siblings, do not get immediate immigration benefits and other members like cousins, aunts and uncles are not even considered. And like already mentioned, the sibling category may even get removed from being available in the future. 

 

A lot of foreigners don't understand the concept as they are used to a "joint family" approach. Extended family members are close where they share resources and even share the same home.

 

It is just how things are here in America.

America is different, it allows you to petition siblings, most Countries do not so it is not an issue.

When you marry somebody not residing in the US and they are immigrate to the US, the assumption is they are starting a new life with you in the US. While visiting siblings is normal, what is the need for a sibling to also be a resident in the US with you? From a need-based perspective, siblings are literally the lowest priority. Parents, children, minors, etc. are all considered to be a higher priority, so they get visas.

 

And as others noted, the ability to even bring siblings is pretty uncommon nowadays.
