Hi Everyone

I arrive 24 September 2014 to States I got my green cared Oct 16 2014 For that Time I didn't work I spend some times with family I didn't file Texas on 2014 cos i didn't have job i staring job at march 2015 and im going to apply for citizenship next year so you guys thinks could be problem ?if i didn't file Texas in 2014 Plus 2015 and 2016 Texas will be file .

If you are filing next year, it sounds like you are filing as the spouse of a US citizen. Did your spouse not file taxes?

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

If you are filing next year, it sounds like you are filing as the spouse of a US citizen. Did your spouse not file taxes?

No She does not file Taxas cos she is Social Security She is Disable and yes we file it together last year on 2015 and will file it this year 2016

so my question its not going to be problem when im going to apply for citizenship next year right ?

Good Evening everyone , 

 

I Received Green card on 25 OCTOBER 2014 I was looking for jobs and I got my first job at march 2015 so I didn't file taxes on 2014   Cos I have no job and I am going to apply for  citizenship in July 2017 I have 2016 and 2017 Married jointly taxes did missed the 2014 taxes ?

 

Anyone in same boat  appreciated. it

Hi guys, 

 

I am pretty sure this question has been asked before, but somehow, I couldn't find the answer. I got my 10-year permanent residency on 9/25/2014  and I'm planning to apply for a citizenship this year probably in June 2017 but i didn't file taxes on 2014 cos i was looking for job is that could be problem ? i got my 2015 and 2016 taxes returned with my US Wife . I  Have been a lawful permanent resident of the United States for at least 3 years I am going apply for Citizenship this year Please help me with this question

06/01/17 -- Medical Examination [Complete. It took around 2 hours. Total Cost INR 11650 for Surat City Apollo Clinic]

06/12/17 -- Biometric (OFC) Appointment

06/13/17 -- Interview [7:30 AM at Mumbai, India]. Visa Approved

06/15/17 -- Visa in hand

06/21/17 -- POE at DFW (Dallas, Texas)

----- Removal of Condition -----

Removal of Condition (I-751) [Approved]

06/18/2019 -- Sent the package (3 Days before GC expires, cutting it close). Sent to Lewisville, TX via FedEx Ground

06/19/2019 -- Package received at around 9:30 AM (Hoping I don't get rejected for missing deadline)

06/24/2019 -- Card was charged with $680 fees. Text Message received confirming Receipt. Case routed to NBC (Case Number starts with 'MSC')

06/28/2019 -- NOA Hard Copy & 18 Months Extension Letter Received in Mail with NOA Date as 06/19/2019

07/12/2019 -- Biomentrics Appointment Letter received. The Letter is Dated 7/5/2019. Appointment is on 7/22/2019

can you file taxes? when you just got to states and get your green card ?  I mean I come to us on September 24 and got my green card in October 28 2014   got no job since got my first job at march 2014 and didn't file taxes ? and going to apply for citizenship under 3 years rules could be problem please ? hope you understand my question

Did your spouse file a 2014 tax return?  How did she file it?  Did she file it as "Married, Filing Jointly" or "Married, Filing Separately"? 

 

If she filed as "Married, Filing Seperately" that's OK.  You just need to send a letter stating that you were not required to file because you had no income (or your income was so low you did not need to file).

 

If your wife filed as "Single" in 2014, that was a mistake, and she should amend her return to file as "Married".  If she did not file a return because she did not have income (or low income) then you both should include a letter that explains that in 2014 neither of you was required to file taxes.

That's correct. I missed to read OP's first response.

Also if your spouse has filed taxes for 2014 as "Married filing separately" and you got your SSN in 2014, you can amend the taxes and change it to "Married filing jointly". In both cases, if your name is on the tax return, you can present it as proof.
