It varies by embassy. My petition was sent to Saudi Arabia, which sent P3 via email to my fiancee. Others send it by normal mail, or don't send at all (you need to look it up on their website usually). My petition is being transferred to Manila now, so I'm just waiting for that to arrive to get a new P3. Good luck!

FYI - Latest NVC shipments to the embassies just went through. If your case was at NVC, it may be in transit to the embassy now.

The lady I spoke to said they'd already sent it to the embassy in Montreal! After waiting months and months for our NOA2, things seem to be speeding up for us.

I'm also wondering, since the NVC was able to give me our case number and Invoice ID number, can I go ahead with the filling out the DS-160, or do I need to wait until I receive something from the embassy?

There was 1 Nov. case approved today, along with 0 RFEs sent and 1 RFE response received.

 

Additionally, there was 1 RFE response received yesterday that was not included as of yesterday's scan.

Shouldn't they put some extra time for long waiting cases?  Thinking of how they work is kinda frustrating.

@geowrian if NVC shipped to embassies, does that mean that if I call them tomorrow they should have received my case? Are the two at all connected? USCIS and NVC are never helpful unless your question is on their prompter. Each time I call (2-3 per week) I'm told they don't have it and it can take 90 days from approval date. USCIS workers will assure me it was shipped the day it was approved to NVC. Any guidance here?

NVC shipments to the embassies have no bearing on USCIS shipments to NVC or NVC processing. It's just a waiting game, but you can keep checking in with both USCIS and NVC. There are a couple recent cases of people calling NVC and saying they didn't have the case yet, but then found out it was received and shipped already, albeit that's not the norm.

If you have your NVC MTL#, check on the CEAC website if it says "Ready":

If its "Ready" you can go ahead and download packet 3 from the Canadian embassy website here:

https://ca.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee/

The awesome thing about Canada, the Packet 3 process can be downloaded online, and you don't have to wait until the paper copy arrives in the mail.  The Packet 3 instructions will show you everything you need to know, including starting and submitting your DS160.  

My fiance just had her K1 Visa interview last week in Montreal, and I attended with her.  We were happily approved.

Hey friend!  I must have missed a lot!  Your petition was sent to Saudi Arabia?! I thought your fiance was from the PI?  Was she working in the Middle East?

Hey! It's been forever. haha Yup, you got it. She's working in KSA for a little bit but already submitted her exit papers and is returning to PI soon.

We were not able to get our NVC MTL# until about 4 weeks from our NOA2 approval.  Apparently, Canada does things pretty slow.  Although, the process getting the packet 3, packet 4, scheduling the interview and the interview itself was pretty straight forward.

Ahhhh....according at your timeline/signature, looks like you have everything covered!

Thanks for the congrats!  Its funny though, because this process just keeps going...point of entry, moving in together, getting married, social security numbers, joint bank accounts, the adjustment of status.....kids? HAHAHA...life just keeps rolling!

I'm rooting for you buddy!  Hope the rest of the process goes by smoothly for you and the fiance!
