The wall alone is not enough....it just makes the rest of the monitoring so much easier and effective. Don't forget that the wall will pay for itself....even if Mexico doesn't....just by reducing the cost we already pay to support illegal aliens. It's a no Brainer when you look at it financially.  Think of the billions we spend on bringing refugees here....some of which want to kill us.

I agree partially and respect your point of view, what support for illegal aliens you mean? Maybe refugees, because most mexican/latin american people don't qualify for welfare.

it's all in the way things are being handled that it brings so much negative attention. Although the intention might me to protect the U.S and keep away illegal aliens and terrorist  (which I completely understand and support) Most people coming to the U.S are not criminals, they are just running away from extreme poverty and their war torn countries,  many attacked by the U.S in the first place. My heart is divided, since yes, there are bad people everywhere and I get that the U.S has to protect itself from them, but acting simply out of fear isn't a solution either. Many people are more and more against anyone that looks foreign which promotes hate, and many of these people actually worked hard to become U.S citizens and do love this country. What do you think will happen if they feel attacked and alienated?  Can you imagine what is like feeling like dirt, a second class citizen in the country you fought to be part of?

There are two sides of every story, and I believe both parties are right and have good intentions, but neither republicans or liberals are perfect. It's sad we're now realizing how divided the country actually is.

I still believe the wall is a bad idea. Even if it makes sense financially according to you, the negative repercussions in my opinion, don't justify the cost.

yeah, i'm not worried about pence. pence is what i know best, conservative/evangelical catholic..none of those types are actually comprised of anything substantial and can be knocked over with a overzealous sneeze. he definitely wouldn't be back 2020.

Illegals are sucking many many Millions out of the economy, because they generally pay very little if any Taxes and they avail themselves of public services, Schools, Medical care etc that cost the tax payers billions.

isn't this also partially because they make it so hard for them to become regulated? A lot of people live hiding/in fear, that's why they don't really get involved, but they wouldn't mind paying taxes. I can't speak of every single person of course, but at least in my case I know that if there was a way for me to  pay taxes even if they were higher than those for U.S citizens for the privilege of being there, I would have. But alas, very few options exist.

well, because they aren't regulated they get paid ''under the table'' in cash. Which is why the government sanctions companies that pays their employees this way.

well there is cash envelopes

There is using a fake SSN and claiming 5 or 6 dependents then not filing a return (preferred method for most non construction jobs)

The plus side is they do pay social security which they will never recoup. Still does not recoup all the tax loses and money being sent home to Mexico. Not to mention the public sector burden

businesses hiring undocumented workers and paying them under the table is the issue and the only feasible way to stop undocumented workers from not paying taxes. so long as jobs and earnings are available to undocumented people, there will be undocumented people working and not paying taxes. andy pudzer -trumps very first pick for labor department- paid a undocumented housekeeper. i mean, seriously.

So are you trying to tell me that American business owners are breaking the law? And 14 million illegal immigrants are being paid under the table?

Where I live, public schools are paid for by property taxes which are paid by property owners. I'm guessing most illegals don't own homes, so they must rent. I'm guessing the property owners are paying the taxes on the properties they rent to illegals. So the illegal children aren't taking money away from the good kids.

If they use a fake SS#, then taxes are being withheld. If they don't file, the governememt gets extra money!  I wonder where that goes? There has to be hundreds of millions in withheldmtaxes that can't be claimed.

American business owners breaking the law. What are you kidding me :)

Yes they break the law. You know I have always been an advocate of drop the 10lb hammer on the people that employee them and it will fix itself.

I operated in the deep dark world of Illegals. employed more than a few and even dated one. Trust me here I know what I am talking about.

One favorite thing they do is get say "5" people together. Every week they all put in 200 bucks. every 5th week its your turn to get the 1000 dollars.

The illegal burden on State and local GOVTS  is estimated at over 100 billion

I agree. Here in Mexico companies for instance, file workers as if they are getting paid ''minimum wage'' even if they make 10 times that, just so the insurance covered by their taxes will be lower, (very awful service) so companies end up paying less taxes.  Companies will always try to pay less and earn more, just because we can't see all the wrong doings in plain sight doesn't mean it's not happening.

A lot of them are. How else are undocumented people finding work? Doesn't getting paid legally require a social security number and a legal status? are you saying that illegal kids are bad and legal kids are good? that's a very simplistic and damaging way to see things. Undocumented kids are not to blame, but their parents. But that's a whole different topic.

says a lot about your character, nb. you should stick to railing against businesses that employ undocumented workers.
