I'm definitely very lost here so please bare with me! I will be filing the I-30 to bring my 16 year old half sister to live here with me. Im a USC. My questions: she lives in Honduras, my father is an alcoholic and she has not been going to school because he can't pay for it. My father is also in trouble with gangs and he's been targeted and assaulted several times by gangs. Would my sister be 4th priority or is there any other way I can go south bringing her here. I understand that because of the priority the time varies and it could be years before she receives her visa/green card? However, she is like I mentioned not going to school and in severe risk because of her living conditions. Would that matter? Thanks!

hi

yep, 4th category if you file for her and 13 years of waiting

what's happening to her doesn't matter to immigration, they hand out a few visas per year, so that's why she has to wait in line

Yes, she would fall under 4th preference. Expect 12+ years (probably closer to 16 IMHO) for her PD to become current. I would suggest filing sooner rather than later since this family-based visa category is one of the most likely to be affected by immigration reform in the future.

Since it may be many years for her to come to America, if you can afford it maybe you could look into enrolling her in an accredited online US high school to complete her education in the meantime. This is an example of many (I have no connection to this school): https://www.foresttrailacademy.com/american-high-school-diploma-for-international-students.html

Tough situation but immigration for her would be too long a process to remove her out of the problems she is in now. It will be more than 10 years until her visa is issued.

In the mean time is there family or friends in her country that can help? Maybe she can stay with them? That would be immediate solution.
